1 goal, shorthanded, in the last 2 games. 8 goals since the Boston game. 4 by Kopitar, 1 by Gaborik, Pearson, Clifford, and Lucic. Gaborik's was on the PP, 1 for Kopitar was shorthanded, and Pearson's was 3v3. That's 5 ES goals in the last 4 games, 3 of them by Kopitar.

I'd say that's not quite enough for the top CF% team in the league.

The Kings should score a lot more goals but don't because no one drives the puck down the middle of the ice from the blue line in and there is no where near enough front net presence. This is so frustrating.

Seems very reminiscent of recent years where they have a real rough patch in the middle of the season but still dominate possession and shot wise. It's concerning but I wouldn't panic over it. They should snap out of it and go on a run eventually, at least they don't look disinterested like they did in 14/15.

What's most frustrating is that this has been a problem with the team since the Terry Murray days. Simple stupid **** like this has been costing us winnable games for years

Time to condense the suck... put all the plugs on one line...

May result in a too many men on the ice penalty now that I think about it...

I take back everything about them having a chance. Complete and utter ****, reminds me a lot of last year. McNabb belongs in the ****ing AHL, would rather having Keaton ****ing Ellerby paired with Doughty than him. I'd also rather have Buff than Lucic any ****ing day.

Prepare for the Ducks, AZ, and possibly the Sharks passing us. This team has Montreal collapse written all over it.

Overreaction much?

**** Jim Fox for crying all over the post game show for a GI call at the end there too. Shouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

To the guy that believes DS will coach in such a way as to tell DL he needs someone different? I do believe that's part of it. Some right now might be DL evaluting as well. They seem to be continuing the great experiment on D. Constantly mixing things up, no set pairs, Ehrhoff waived, McBain to the press box, and Gravel called up ahead of Forbort. With this group, it's very difficult to say what they are leaning towards. Next thing you know, they trade Martinez, call up Forbort and Schultz, move McBain onto the ice, put Schenn on waivers, and have Nolan play D.

My first day as Quick's goalie coach:

"Well, your game is almost complete, but there are a couple of obvious things that you can do to stop even more pucks:

1. when there's a scramble in front of, or to the side of your net, never, and I mean NEVER roam past either post. Stay in your crease at all costs. And especially if the puck is at the side of the net near the goal line, stay standing up - you can get to the other post much faster.

2. did you know that goalies are allowed to pokecheck the puck? Yes, they are. When the puck gets near you and/or the crease, swipe your stick at it. Now this is important: it just helps the opposing team when you put your paddle on the ice and keep your stick close to your body. Attack the puck, like you mean it!

That does it for today. Try some of those ideas in a game and you'll be amazed how much they work."

I think the issue is the Kings haven't paired two wins together in over a month. Haven't had even a marginal win streak in longer than that. It screams "peaked early."

The thing is--they're playing better now than they were in that span. We just won a bunch of games we should have lost back then, and then we lost a bunch of games we should have won. Just have to hope we turn the second thing around before it's too late. Quick being back and looking beast mode is a positive sign, and we're obviously not going to continue scoring 1 goal a game, but right now, these guys can't buy a break to get everything to go right for just one game.

yup... im not worried... YET

Secondary scoring is always a problem with this team going back to 2009. It's always one line hot, one line not. When Carter and Toffoli were scorching the earth, Kopitar wasn't. Now that Kopitar is playing some of the best hockey of his career, Toffoli and Carter are having zero offensive impact on games. The defense needs work, but the Caps gave us a lot of room this game and we couldn't muster up one even strength or PP goal.

Why can't Muzzin recognize simple plays on the PP? He has Carter on the goal line, Toffoli in the slot, a simple pass to Carter might get a good quality chance... instead he skates in and takes a shot into the goalies chest with no screen... Muzzin missed the play and took the low % shot...

The other play that I enjoyed from Muzzin on the PP was his ripping the puck wide and clearing it for WSH when they were stuck out on an extended shift...

Can we recall Ehrhoff?

It's just the simple plays... can't do it...

In other news Kings score 2 goals in 2 games.... distributing the 3rd line through the top 9 does not make 3 scoring lines.

At least we'll get to see the Ducks fans talking smack for winning the division again, before their inevitable playoff face plant.

Speaking of face plants... that was an epic one Brown had in the defensive zone... Didn't cause a chance or anything... just a beauty of a face plant...

Correction: 1 goal in 2 games. Devils backup got his first career shutout. Can't forget that.
