Since Jan 1st--

57.1% CF%--first in the league.
97.3 PDO--30th in the league, built on a 5.8 shooting % (28th) and 91.5 sv % (21st) at even strength.
28 GF, 33 GA at even strength; -5 is 22nd in the league.
55.6% of the high-danger scoring chances for; 4th in the league.
Yet still giving up the 4th least high-danger scoring chances against.

Like 2015, but even more snakebit. Defensive metrics are fine though the breakdowns aren't by the eye test and due to the completely missing margin for error (since we can't score at 5v5 to save our lives right now).

You mean to tell me an NHL team is going through a slump? I have never seen that happen before.

It's the timing of the slump and the flashbacks it's giving me that are the issue for me.

I defended this set of problems through all of 2015 and here we go again. Only difference is we built ourselves a nice cushion.

Sucks to lose that way, but, we took the best team in the league to a tie over 58 minutes. Still not worried about this team overall. Some questions on defense that Dean needs to address, but the offense will come. We might lose the division lead, but I'm not panicking yet.

I'm just glad that I'm not Dean Lombardi. I honestly don't know what to think of this team right now. Gaborik's injury makes things worse. We absolutely need another defenseman, but for what ever reason we can't score goals anymore. Lombardi has exactly 2 weeks to figure out what to do with this team.

this explains how our main problem is D

Doughty 31:29
Muzzin 28:43

Martinez 20:16

Schenn 17:08
McNabb 12:14
Gravel 10:25

Doughty is so crucial to LA's success, that if, god forbid something happens to him, might as well just pack our bags and relocate to Quebec

Schenn should have McNabb minutes
McNabb should have Gravel minutes

and we need a goddamn legitimate top 4 D! like NOW!

1 goal in the last 12 games for Toffoli, and it was that shot that went off his leg or whatever in the game against the Ducks before the road trip. 1 goal in 13 games for Carter, and it of course came in the Boston blowout, and he wasn't even shooting it. 1 goal in 17 games for Pearson, and it was in 3v3 OT. The 2nd line just isn't producing enough.

2 goals in 10 games, 3 in 18, 4 in 29, for Lucic, 1 of which came in the Boston blowout. 4 goals in 19 games for Brown, 1 came in the Boston blowout, and then 3 against the Coyotes, including the one from center ice.

8-8-1 since the trade. I believe only Kopitar has more goals than Lecavalier since he got here. Kopitar only has 4 goals in his last 12 games, 3 of which came in the Ranger game thankfully. That leaves 1 other goal in 11 games, and it was shorthanded.

That's not enough from your top 2 lines. Combine that with a less than solid, consistent defensive game, and it doesn't look pretty lately.

The offense is just snake bit, but the defense is a long term problem.

Just a lot of bad transactions recently with the defense.

- Use top 15 pick on a defender who can't crack the lineup almost 6 years later.

- Trade significant pieces to acquire another young defenseman because the Top 15 pick is a disappointment. The player you trade for also turns into a disappointment.

- Bring in veteran defenseman who can't even play a bottom six role.

- Re-sign veteran defenseman who can't move

All the Kings needed was one of Forbort or McNabb to have actually lived up to their projections when we acquired them and we don't really have a defensive problem.

I get the Forbort issue but nothing wrong with the McNabb deal. I wouldn't call Fasching and Deslauriers "significant" assets when they got 2 2nds and McNabb. I think his only issue is playing too many minutes.

Bunch of whiners in this thread. It's all Mike Richards fault. Buy him out in 2014, and you re-sign Justin Williams for 2015. Re-sign Justin Williams and he's wearing a different uni tonight, and the Kings win.

Easy.

Oh, and Voynov's a jackass.

heard this before, circa 2014-15 season

***not saying it's the same situation, but i simply mean the fact that someone ''isn't panicking yet'' means absolutely nothing to reality

Yup but the only tradeable assets are Kempe and 1st in 2017 which won't get you much more than a rental.
