What happened to Kreider? We've been the luckiest team in the league the last 1 1/2 seasons injury wise

Due for a season ruining big injury
Looked like a shoulder. He got caught not expecting a hit in open ice near the wall at an awkward angle after dumping the puck, kind of three quarters from behind and was favoring his arm. Thing is, it was two big guys and neither's body budged, so it looked like the arm/shoulder took most of the force of the hit. Hopefully it's minor, not a tear or a separation.

agree, shoulder or lower arm / wrist looked like what he was showing jr on bench. btw his getting right off and almost immediately heading to room, guessing its at least a few weeks.

that said, if he hits ir the cap room and accrual could allow potential deadline moves to be made a little earlier. if if nothing else couldn't hurt to give any pickups a couple extra weeks to settle in on and off ice.

Put him on the 4th line wing instead of Blais?

Not actually joking...
unless he's close to the record. prob gonna be seeing sammy regularly until kreider is back. guessing rydahl gets a look, if so hopefully he can stake a claim as a bottom 6 upgrade. sammy is just not close to where he was pre injury with his skating, which wasn't exactly a strength before it. sucks for him, i really liked what he could have added, but reality is right now he's a liability in an nhl lineup.

Probably an unpopular opinion but think they should have tried Chytil in the 2C spot before they went out and signed Trocheck. It would still leave an open at 3C, but would be a cheaper fill.

Chytil is pacing for over 50 points, with little PP time, and bottom 6 role. Good stuff.

exactly.

Real gutsy win for the Rangers. Had the makings of a loss when the pucks wouldn’t go in early on. Team found a way to win.

Played a very physical team and unfortunately lost 2 players to Injury both from hits. Not sure of the severity of either yet, however they didn’t look good.

Kakko looked amazing up top. Granted he should have shot the puck on 2 separate occasions. That’s coachable. He looks like he and Zbad are on the same page. Really hope they stay together. We are seeing a very good player develop into a top 6 guy.

Chytil and Miller next contracts are starting to scare me. K’Andre is pacing a 40 pt season. He is pacing 175 hits. He is pacing 100 blocked shots. He’s doing all this on the 2nd pairing while consistently covering for Trouba. In addition doing it without PP minutes. Chytil is around .63 PPG. If 82 games he would be on pace for a 52pt season. He is producing from a 3rd line perspective. Similar to what Hayes did. Hayes got what in his contract from the Rangers? Maybe $5 mil? What does Chytil‘s next contract look like?

Adam Fox is already up there on the best NYR all time lists, and im not sure I can put anyone else ahead of him not named Leetch. Without Fox this club is very mediocre. He’s the guy. Did it again tonight.

The middle six seems to be missing something. Not sure what it is but I don’t think the combos are working well. Maybe a Chytil/Trocheck swap? I would like to see what Trocheck and Lafreniere could accomplish together. Maybe that could help get #13 going? I’m the same breath, does Panarin work without Trocheck at center? Assuming lines will be different anyway with the injuries.

Trouba seems to be an issue. Was able to look past it being he injected life into the entire team when he threw his helmet. Fast forward and the club is winning games but it looks like he is regressing as a defenseman. He’s not getting his stick on pucks off the rush. He’s not making the best decisions. If he was playing smaller minutes that’s ok. Problem is he is still on the 2nd pairing. He is still on PP2. He’s just not producing like an $8 million dollar player should be. I echo the same sentiments as the other posters that are looking for #4 ahead of him on the 2nd pairing.

Major win, coming off a loss. Made all the more better considering they didn’t convert early on what were some really strong high danger chances. Also considering they lost 2 players. They dug deep and got it done.

This game seemed like a microcosm of the season. Played well in the first but still ended it down 2 with no goals despite some grade A chances. Played fantastic hockey in the 2nd and looked like they were on track for a big third. Start the third looking lost. I was really impressed with the way that Fox took the team on his back and led them. Absolutely the best player on the ice tonight.

Concerned about Kreider and Gauthier though. Goat looked like a definite concussion and who knows how bad Kreider is.

And what is going on with Igor at home? Two of those goals against were turds.

They couldn't take that chance when they let Strome walk. They just went to the ECF and had to fill that spot with a proven 2C. If Chytil was incapable of filling the 2C position adequately they would have had a huge hole in the roster.

If I wanted to prove curses are real... I'd show scientists video of Kaapo Kakko

I first posted this two years ago, don't even remember if it was here or somewhere else. Chytil always showed glimpses of what he's doing this year whenever he was in a scoring role. Even 3-4 years ago, whenever he'd play with Panarin for a stretch, it would be 4 points in 6 games kinda thing till he either got hurt or the lines were arbitrarily shuffled.

So I'll just say.

Yup.

Tro's a big upgrade over Strome, but that contract is gonna hurt.

I don't think there's a problem having both. Trocheck @ $5.6 wont be anything crazy once the covid correction finally occurs, and I actually think you could a run a line of Kreider-Tro-Vesey at around 14-15 minutes a night that would still see him score 40+ and a PITA line to play against (it also needs Laf to pull his finger out and play with Mika-KK).

What you can't have is Trochek and Goodrow making as much as they do for '3rd' line duties which is why I still think the plan is to move Goodrow at the draft

Fox
Key
Vesey

Key scored the goal to get the Rangers on the board, but Vesey creating the turnover along the blue line to spring Key was the bee's knees. Changed the complexion of the game. That's a blue collar hard workin' play by a blue collar hard workin' player. Very surprised in all the right ways by Vesey this year. I'd be lying if I said I didn't give the signing an eye roll when it happened. Well, who's laughing now? Himmy Vesey. That's who.

Shesterkin was absolutely terrible tonight. I’m glad he shuts it down to finish the shootout for his own well being. But make no mistake. Getting beat clean like this over and over is absurd for him
“Terrible” is a huge exaggeration. He posted 0.906 SV% and got the W.

If you look at the goals, the third one was obviously a blunder. First goal he was screened and the puck went post and in. Second goal was an absolute snipe by an elite shooter.

Far from terrible, but certainly not the best game for him

Think we'll 100% see Blais next game. Gauthier got really rocked, have to think he's in concussion protocol.

Kreider I don't know. He's gutted these out before and came back quick. I think it could be 2-3 games.

Rydahl up (no waivers). Time for Kakko to put the big boy pants on and produce, not just get chances. Same for Lafreniere. It'll be those two with Mika. Kravtsov stepping up to balance the lines would be huge.
