Doug Armstrong was on The Bob McCown Podcast yesterday and mentioned that Snuggerud most likely will return for sophomore season but that could change based on what happens to the Blues roster this offseason.

Doesnt make much sense for him to leave NCAA after 1 year imo. Just like Knies, just go back for another year, dominate and improve your overall game and you should be good to go after that.

That will ensure we’re also in the lottery again next year, ewww.
Better than struggling tooth and nail to only make the playoffs and get smoked because the team is flawed on multiple levels.

What the Blues are going through is what's to be expected in modern sport. No one can stay at the top forever. As for Snuggerud, jumping to the NHL is incredibly difficult and the Blues can now take time to make sure he develops properly. He's looking like a top-20 prospect in the entire NHL, so giving him more time to hone his skills is perfectly reasonable and shrewd, frankly.

I think Snuggerud will be back at Minnesota next season. I get the feeling the Blues want to be on the safe side of rushing prospects. We just acquired 2 stop gap wingers that I think are basically placeholders for our top two wing prospects in Snuggerud and Bolduc. Armstrong recently talked about next years top 9 and basically said all the winger spots are filled with Buch, Kyrou, Vrana, Saad, Kapanen, and Neighbours.
That would be really smart of them. The U is transitioning to the smaller, NHL ice surface next year. Better he adjusts there than in the pros.

They are not going full NHL. I think 100x90, with strange corner radii.
Why the Hell a NCAA arena has Olympic/european size?
Knowing they had the speed/skill to really expose opponents on a bigger sheet, new Mariucci went Olympic size. Also it was just generally popular at that time. It wasn't all about pumping players into the NHL at that time.

Ah…weird. IMO, the greater width is always more of a difference.

Announced earlier than I expected...wonder if this sways Cooley on coming back (I personally doubt it). Regardless, Snuggerud should be primed for a monster sophomore year. Even if Cooley leaves he might slot in next to incoming freshman and future 1st round pick Oliver Moore.

Good decision. Hopefully he can come back next season with some added strength and a more efficient stride.

Great to see so many teams and kids themselves have figured out the 2 years in the NCAA and jump right to the NHL is the best path unless you are a Cooley/Fantilli type.

Next year he will be the man offensively, it will be a nice challenge for him without Knies and presumably Cooley.

2 college years isn't beneath anybody. Good decision.

I was kind of wondering if the mass exodus from the roster might've played a part in him leaving, but maybe some of the seniors are going to use their 5th years, and the defense should still be pretty good with Rinzel joining Koster, Chesley and Mittelstadt. And I guess Johnson hasn't signed yet either.

Such a steal at 23 in a "weak" draft. Really wish he would play a full season in the AHL next year but I understand him wanting to stay at Minnesota. Best of luck to them next year. Hopefully he can jump right into the NHL in 24-25.

Those 9 names mentioned on the wing sound like a lottery team to you? Worry about the defense.

That shot

Will we be seeing a big year from Snuggerud now that he should be "the guy" with Cooley leaving (I know he had an exceptional year last year but now hes the main guy)? Should get a lot more puck touches this year.

Looks like his skating is still improving as well. Good signs for Jimmy.

Looking forward to seeing Bolduc - Dvorsky - Snuggerud in Springfield next year and then the Blues the following year.
