Better than spending a full year riding the bus in the AHL. Sorry for the criticism this year, Jimmy, welcome back!
I don't think his dad would let him tarnish their name inside the Gopher program and pull that.Hope it’s for real and not a Cooley kind of comeback. I think college is a good spot for him next year, still has room to grow his game and get ready for the level of physicality in the NHL.
oooof... When does St Louis start worrying that he is a flight risk to stay all 4 yrs at College and become a free agent. The Minnesota Wild would be the favorite to land the local kid.
I don’t think it’s likely he stays for 4 years, but I will say that money is probably less of a motivating factor for him with his family situation compared to many prospects.I wouldn't be too worried yet. Not sure if any reporter caught wind if the Blues were offering to burn the first year immediately or if they wanted his ELC to start next year. Or if Snuggerud had a sense that he'd be starting in the AHL and simply preferred to remain in school.
Staying all four years and going the August 15th route has financial ramifications for the player. They'd delay their RFA clock and possibly cost themselves a decent chunk of change. Just by comparison, 2010 1st rounders Nick Bjugstad (signed after junior year) and Kevin Hayes (played all four years, signed after August 15th):
Bjugstad (3 year ELC signing at 21)
2012-13: ELC1
2013-14: ELC2
2014-15: ELC3
2015-16: 2.85 mil (RFA extension @4.1 mil AAV)
2016-17: 3.35 mil
2017-18: 3.85 mil
Hayes (2 year ELC signing at 22)
2014-15: ELC1
2015-16: ELC2
2016-17: 2.6 mil (RFA extension 2 x 2.6 mil AAV)
2017-18: 2.6 mil

College Players can make money on NIL now too...who knows how much boosters are paying these players to stay in the school program. Plus at the end of it, Jimmy can choose the pro team of his liking. Doesnt sound like a bad idea.
“You’re hearing million-dollar deals for football and basketball,” Minnesota coach Bob Motzko said. “Our players get burritos.”
A Michigan NIL club has 61 members who have pledged $913 per month. Split among the 21 participating players, that’s $522 annually apiece. That’s a far cry from the $13 million deal that collapsed between the Gators and quarterback recruit Jaden Rashada.
Instead of giant collective paydays, hockey deals have been more about camps, gear and, yes, free food.
It doesn't sound like NIL is affecting hockey as much as other sports.
NIL rules college football, but not the Frozen Four. Yet.

And going back to Snuggerud, it could just come down to him enjoying the college lifestyle. I wouldn't begrudge him for wanting another year of that.
I wish I could track down the article/podcast, but I seem to recall that Tage Thompson advised his younger brother Tyce to go back for his junior year. Tage signed after his sophomore season and spent the next year split between the AHL/NHL. If given the chance, it sounded like Tage would have stuck around for his third year.
Like the potential of Moore, Rinzel and Snuggerud all making big strides. Could be a really solid team next yearIt was a good but not great year for him. For his draft position his year was fine but for the trajectory he'd been on from the draft through his freshman season it was a bit of a disappointment. Given that and his legacy status, not surprising at all that he's returning.
Minnesota should be the favorite heading into next season.
Not true at allMinnesota should be the favorite heading into next season.
Not true at allThere is No NIL in hockey
It consists of free food and electric scooters
Not true at all
MSU was offering some recruits a 50K or so package in the last recruiting cycleActually very true
It’s been monitored by plenty of people
MSU was offering some recruits a 50K or so package in the last recruiting cycle
That was brought up on college hockey news and debunked
Money isn’t there in college hockey
Logan coley had the most notable one of free chipotle
Denver players have always gotten free chipotle because the first one was on Denver’s campus
Michigan players got some bikes or scooter
uND had a restaurant collective
BU and BC were Jimmy John’s
Like I said no money in NIL especially sports that aren’t head count sports
