He's a Minnesota kid so I'd be surprised if he left the Gophers after 1 season, especially if he thought the AHL was an option. There is enough he can work on and improve in his sophomore year and if he's still performing like he is, sign him after next season. I could see him at 6'2"+ and 200 lbs after his sophomore season with another 1.5 seasons of weight training.

Yeah plus his dad or Grandpa played for the gophs, can't remember which one. I'd be very surprised if he left after 1 year but who knows. If knies didn't, I doubt he would. Curious if Cooley stays one more tho....
Good points, I guess I’m just being optimistic

and had a sweet assist a couple of minutes afterward on a Knies goal. The Cooley, Knies, Snuggerud line has to be the best in college hockey. Cooley is by far the highest pick, is playing really well, and might be the least of the three. Ridiculous.

Toronto and STL scored on the other two.

My skepticism about this kid, has been replaced by unrealistic expectations.

But damn this kid is good. He transitioned beautifully into his new circumstances.

Excited to see how high he can go now. But he was a good pick after all.

Still sits tied with Cooley for the team lead in points well into the season. He went toe to toe with Cooley during the WJC in terms of points and production.

When will people start puttin some respect on his season. With this seasons results it'll be tough to keep him in college but I think its the best play. Bring him over at the end of next season.

Excited to see how he transitions to the pros. Always thought he was underrated heading into last years draft, but hes completely blown away my expectations.

Blues fan here - agreed that he should spend one more year in college. No need to rush him, but I don’t think he’ll require AHL time after that. He was definitely a riser heading into the draft as was selected by his previous team/teammates as being the most underrated and improved from the previous season.

I've watched pretty much most of the gopher games start to finish. The scoresheet obviously looks good, but there is still a lot to work on before he gets to the professional level just when it comes to physically maturing more. I think it's gonna take another year for his conditioning to get there for example, skating improvement. There have been a lot of instances when he struggles to keep up with the pace of play throughout the game. Just needs more time.

If Cooley left, and snuggerud stayed, it will be interesting to see what type of step he takes next season. Cooley drive the puck a la hughes most of the time when he's on the ice which leads to a lot of scoring chances for the line. Next year they have oliver moore coming in but idk... He should stay 2 years so he develops properly.

It’s a well run college team. They might be wise to keep him there for next year. He does have a NHL frame, though. I think that mimicking at Matt Boldy’s development path would make sense. Two years of college, 20-30 AHL games(yes, it’s a big step up from college),then hopefully a smooth transition to the NHL.

Thanks for the insight. To be clear, I’m advocating for him to spend another year in college. I’d rather his deficiency be in his physical maturity, as that’s something that can be attained (rather than hockey IQ, for instance); I’m sure the Blues staff is looking forward to how much better he can be with increased stamina, physicality, etc.

He's having a better freshman season compared to Knies last season and Knies came back. If Minnesota wins it all maybe he says I've done all I wanted in college and turns pro but I feel Snuggerud will return for his sophomore season.

I think a lot will depend on how the season ends moreso for Cooley than snuggerud. I think you'll see snuggerud staying with Moore centering him next season. Unless Cooley stays.

He might be better on the scoresheet, but that’s because he is playing on a line with Knies and Cooley, and their defense is really talented and matured. He has been great, but Knies is terrific, and was really good last year.

Best player on the team and the most talented in the NCAA .
Ehhh… it’s nice to have threads like this to get info on prospects, rather than misinformation.

I think Snuggerud will be back at Minnesota next season. I get the feeling the Blues want to be on the safe side of rushing prospects. We just acquired 2 stop gap wingers that I think are basically placeholders for our top two wing prospects in Snuggerud and Bolduc. Armstrong recently talked about next years top 9 and basically said all the winger spots are filled with Buch, Kyrou, Vrana, Saad, Kapanen, and Neighbours.

That will ensure we’re also in the lottery again next year, ewww.
