Because he hasn't played 60 games (pretty sure that's the rule here) and his threads aren't a constant argument so they don't graduate him early. Why is he still considered a prospect?

Marner, and previously McDavid and Eichel.Ah, so they literally removed the Matthews & Laine threads because of the fighting.![]()

lolol lets hope we can stay civil here. I'd like to hear more from ppl who've watched him more on how he's doing.
In Finland he played for TPS, which was by far the worst team in FEL at the time... I think he hasn't played in a single good team during his professional careerThe Avs are a mess right now, but Rantanen has been a bright light this season. When the team shows some semblance of direction. His game will be even better. He has had the unfortunate circumstance of playing with San Antionio and Colorado. 2 struggling teams since coming over from Finland. And despite this, he has still looked good.
He's been better than expected. Going to be even better watching him in 2-3 years.
Is there a reason for that?No surprise considering he's an Avs prospect. Once you become Avs property you instantly lose all hype.

Not true at all. It may not be a vocal fanbase, but there was a lot of hype about Rantanen last year, and don't get started on how hyped Mackinnon, Landeskog and Duchene got as rookies. No surprise considering he's an Avs prospect. Once you become Avs property you instantly lose all hype.

I feel every fan base feels this way. I can't think of one fan base where prospects get unfairly looked over. The amount of positive to negative opinions relatively stays the same regardless of teams, just the proportion of such posts vary by the size of the fan base. For example, Leafs prospects get an insane amount of hype, but also get an insane amount of unnecessary bashing.
Rantanen was talked about an insane amount last year vs Nylander due to his AHL numbers. Hype may go down, but I don't think it affects the overall view of the player by most. People just pay more attention to their own team. Plus, who have the Avs really had to hype outside of top picks recently? People are quiet on Jost, but its not liking he's destroying college hockey or had a great WJC (still a good prospect). No one else has really been worthy of much hype outside of Rantanen. No, it's definitely a thing. Unless it's a top 5 pick, any player that we draft the interest and talk around him goes off a cliff.

Dunno. Just a small market team I guess. Look at Jost, top ten pick last season, gets zero talk about him. Zadorov, so many times I've seen people think we're not going to protect him, Bob MacKenzie thinking he's a bust thus far, etc etc etc.
I like it though.
Every fanbase thinks this about themselves. You're not special. No, it's definitely a thing. Unless it's a top 5 pick, any player that we draft the interest and talk around him goes off a cliff.
