He's the real deal.

He's easily going to be better than Mack imo.

Elite Franchise center.

Probably not on both counts. He's a much smarter player than MacKinnon, but lacks Mack's physical tools. It's too bad we can't combine the two of them together. That would make an elite franchise center.

But he has had a solid rookie year despite the tire fire of a team that he's on. If he keeps progressing, he should have no problem turning into a 50-60 point first line winger. Not bad for a 10th pick.

If you ever figure out the fusion formula, I'd like to combine Monahan and Gaudreau.

Thanks.

He scored his 20th today, which tops the team. I know it doesn't sound a big deal when other rookies hit 40 but on this Avs team that was an accomplishment.

Thats crazy, after missing a part of training camp with an injury and he still led his team in goals as a rook.

If Avs ever get better, i think he can get 30 goals.

Rants scored 20 this year already after missing training camp and only playing 75 games. Could see him scoring 35+ in his prime.

His shot still seems pretty underrated here.

20 goals in 75 games on that disastrous Avalanche team as a rookie is very impressive.
Mikko, Compher and Zadorov are easily the Avs 3 biggest positives this year.

Personally, I think it would have been a good idea to keep any promising prospects away from the Avalanche his season, but he posted a very impressive rookie season, even without considering the circumstances of his team.

What, and have him stagnate in the AHL? The only way to fix the Avs is to get fresh, young blood onto the team.

Obviously there were some players who quit on the team this year, and I think it's better for a prospect to over-marinate in the AHL (Detroit has shown it's not that bad) rather than have them be in such an environment.

Second to only MacKinnon in terms of most valuable player this year. Obviously not having the year some of the other rookies have had, but for this Colorado team, it's been a good year for him.

You say that as though this phenomenon didn't occur in San Antonio as well.

Are you aware that our AHL team is the same type of environment?
