Player Discussion Vladimir Tarasenko

I've given it a few weeks. It's even worse than I originally thought. We've been linked with Tarasenko for YEARS and it was always a terrible idea and waste of good assets.

Tarasenko is not worth what was given up. It's not as bad as the Tanner Jeannot deal, but I might rather have Jeannot honestly.

This team just continuously trades away it's future when we aren't in a real position to contend. And Tarasenko really doesn't put us over the top.

Drury was not the man for this job. He's following Lou's lead from the island. Except Lou got an in his prime Horvat and we get a fading, injury prone, 2nd tier guy. Wonderful. Islanders still won't win anything, but at least they got Horvat blowing up the net. We get Tarasenko, a few handfuls of assists and a constant injury bug, who's long past his prime.

Of all the drafts not to move a 1st round pick... this is the one. We stood a good chance of legitimately getting a future 1/2 C from this draft pool, even where we will be picking. And to give an opportunity at that up, for Tarasenko and another year of failure.... it's just, so consistent at this point. And I'm sitting here looking at the Devils thinking, how the heck did they do that? And we did this?

I've just stopped expecting anything different. The only reason we had a stock of assets to do anything with in the first place, is wholly due to the previous administration.
I hate trading 1st round picks for rentals...but we still have the better of the two picks that we had. So we can still get that C, no?

This may come as a surprise but there is an edit button.

I mean, he’s got legit concerns but we’re in win now mode though and the picks we gave up for Tarasenko probably won’t make an impact until 5-6 years down the line.

I love how everyone’s felating the Devils when they’ve been absolute trash for like a decade now. Yes they’re good this season but they haven’t proven jack shit and their team as-is is not really constructed for the postseason (skilled but smallish, soft + lack playoff experience). Not that the Rangers are playing Like world beaters right now, but I’d still place my bets on them. We have multiple cup winners and a lot of players that have recently come close. We also have Shesterkin who while is having a mediocre season is capable of stealing a series on his own.

He's still getting settled in. Not mentioned enough but Drury being able to add Tarasenko and Mikkola a full 11-12 games before the deadline is a very good move. Asking any player to come in and fit in like a glove in 20 games is hard. Extend that to 32-35 games and that's a good amount of time to settle both at and away from the rink

I was cursing so loud at him on my TV basically the whole time he had the puck—saying "SHOOT YOU MOTHERf***ER" — before he shot it for the tying tip goal lmao. I think he heard me. 2 shots, two goals.

Keep it up Vlad!

Man people were really talking out of their asses in this thread. He doesnt have a wrist shot anymore? He beat Hart, who was having a great game, clean in OT. He is still a supremely talented player and it's not shock he played his best period as a Ranger when they really needed to get 2 points. The 2010s Central Division superstars are going to show a lot of people they still have game left

this is the daily reminder.

put him with Laffy and Chytil. Laffy has been setting people up but Chytil has gone cold and Kakko doesn't now how to score.

Kakko adds possession to our one-and-doners Kreider-Zibs.

Panarin Trocheck Kane
Kreider Zibs Kakko
Laffy Chytil Tank

I dont know you just gotta expect it around here

He has one of the best shots in the league. It doesnt just suddenly disappear. He'll be ripping shots into his 50s at charity games. Its more to do with technique than strength.

He said it AGAIN in the postgame interview. Hes getting to know his teammates, their tendencies on the ice, the room, the system. Could be why everyone thinks hes just standing around watching. Because thats kinda what he's doing to figure shit out.

Listen, Im at fault for it too at times. I was expecting a little more juice from him, but he showed his game breaking ability last night. Yes, he had time and space on the 3on3 to make that rush, but on Kreiders goal im pretty sure he screamed at one of the Rangers defenseman to let that puck come to him off the wall so he can get the shot on net knowing Kreider was there. He also had that great seam pass finding Mika on the PP. You can tell theres a little jelling coming and its nice that its with those two.

Heads up, veteran moves that shows great vision and awareness. That was a big setup for the tying goal and the OT winner was even bigger.

With Kane coming in, he's gonna be kinda buried under the pressure and superstardom. He could be a big difference maker both the fans and opposition forget about, until its in the back of the net.

Agree with all of it. I loved how excited the team was to celebrate with him after the goal, and how thoughtful his postgame interview was.

Hes pretty articulate isnt he?

I like listening to him speak. A no-bullshit response to each question.

Also like that he said the team had to focus on the negatives from last night and find a way to play better for a full 60.

Because they do.

This team can flip the switch when they want, like in the 3rd. Its almost like they get bored and go through the motions some of these games. Cant wait to see when the pressure really turns up. You kinda get the impression they are waiting for it. But they need to stay in good habits

Was always- and I mean always- a vlady fan.

We're in win now mode so I get the price we paid. Guy can snipe it still and so I'm ok with the deal.

If he gets hot he's a legit finisher plus he's Russian so there's that.

Enver Lisin for life

I'm still here btw lurking in the tall grass. Watching....
Bruh, where you been? I mentioned you just the other day. Good to see you man.
