Can we just acknowledge for a moment how off script the last 365+ days have been compared to historical norms for the franchise. 4 legitimate stars brought in, 2 through FA, all in too good to be true fashion with a "holy sh1t, that actually happened?" reaction tied to them.

Say what you will about the deals, PD and all that but this is big market type behaviour that we have been absolutely starved of for most of our existence.

Add to that the roller coaster of the sale and that we are waiting on an owner who by all accounts is an amazing and passionate person to come out from behind the curtain and who's going to have an "we're just getting started!" attitude. Oh and Brady emerging as the best captain and envy of the whole league and Stu about to set a franchise record for points...

Hot damn if it isn't a good time to be alive...
Stupid dbc trade aside, PD has assembled a damn nice roster, I have to admit.

Usually about as many goals as assists. A history of shoulder injuries. Questionable physical conditioning ( photo taken several years ago ). Upside would be that he can be a point per game guy and would be playing for his next contract. @ 5 million a good deal if he stays healthy.

Brannstrom makes 2 million......... Kleven is your number 6 you are fine he is a 22 year old d man. He isn't an 18 year old he showed he can play last year. I get it sens twitter loves Brannstrom and you're a sens twitter guy but he is the one to move.
lol wtf. I have been vocal about wanting to trade Branny. You have been watching the game long enough to know D take time to grow into their game. For a season that can't afford to go bad Ill take a 24 year old Branny with 190 NHL games behind him right now.

Also as an aside I rather sent MacEwan down than Greig even tho it would be like 100K less in cap space.

Literally in better shape than all the posters talking shit about him

If that is bad shape I feel disgusting.

Also weird take to say "look at his conditioning" while he is playing a sport.

If you spent the time you spent scouting out who people follow on Twitter in the gym instead, you'd look like this:

Nooooo fffff-ingg wayy!

Congratulations to that random twitter guy who called it. This makes up for a lot. A lot.

Tarasenko + Kubalik + likely lower 1st >>> Debrincat. The team suddenly looks big, balanced and deadly. Very exciting. Good job Pierre!

Tarasenko - Stützle - Giroux
Tkachuk - Norris - Batherson
Kubalik - Pinto - Sokolov
Joseph - Kastelic - MacEwan
Kelly/Greig

Chabot - Zub
Chuchrun - Brännström
Sanderson - Hamonic
Kleven/JBD

Forsberg

The idea of acquiring Murray s hilarious. Clever move lol

I’m happy they signed Tarasenko perfect signing IMO, that said - do you guys really think Simpson is just fabricating this whole cloth?
I don’t. There is smoke around him and not just from Simpson.

Pretty excited to see the lineup on the ice. Was hoping we’d get Tarasenko for a while now.
Seems like a great guy. This kind of experienced energy is something we need I think. Hopefully works well with giroux.

Hmmm....looks a lot like the reigning NHL Iron Man who got his 3rd Cup ring this past season (aside from the hair and pair of nads). Don't judge a tubby book by its cover, dude.

I know D men take longer, which at 21 years old is why I think he is fine as a number 6. I also got to watch him, he was rock solid and has exactly what the sens D core is missing. Size, length and physicality. Frankly I wish they were just fine and didnt have to trade anyone its too bad they have 5 million in dead cap it sucks. The alternatives just arent great. Its Joseph and an asset or Brannstrom for assets I prefer the Joseph situation. They also need players like Joseph at this point Brannstrom is a luxury with the current personnel on the sens D. I thought he played great last year but its just an unfortunate situation due to mis managed contracts.

I feel like a lot of these guys look very rough in the off-season. Their ability to quickly get in shape and cut weight is wild.

He’s also probably strong as shit.

Simpson fabricating what?

Tarasenko is definitely not perfect lol.
I don't think that's what meant. He meant it was a perfect signing for the place we're in right now. Or that's what I got from it - and I kinda agree.

Simpson fabricating what?

He thinks we were the only team with an offer as big as we had.

And I can't say I really disagree but it's a 1 year signing and Tarasenko has won a Stanley Cup, he was a PPG player the season before last. It's worth trying another shooter having lost DeBrincat.

I don't really get pouring cold water on fluff pieces when the stakes are so low. It's a 1 year deal. Even if every other team was offering like $3M or something significantly less... who cares?

We didn't give up picks. We didn't sign for multiple years. Those are the two keys here.

Thanks.

It's possible, yeah. I don't really do twitter, if he's being negative about it, then that's his choice. Personally, I find NOTHING negative about signing a former Cup winner who literally called our players to gauge how bad they want to win. So clearly he wants to win and clearly he's motivated. 1 year, as you said, no term, no picks. What in the world is not to like lol.

This article shows cap space with Greig still counting against the cap.
Either way the Sens are going to need to make some sort of move to gain space to Sign Pinto and fill in the roster.
The article also compares DeBrincat with Tarasenko but does not bring in the addition of Kubalik as well which to me is a factor in moving DeBrincat for Kubalik and cap space to sign Tarasenko . Granted another move is required but any loss in that move should be easily absorbed.
Still has good info.

You mean like how someone from Philly tried to throw Giroux under the bus claiming he wasn't good to the young players after he left Philly?

Tarasenko is definitely not perfect lol.

Yea he isn't. But he gives us a big body presence who is good for AT LEAST 50 points, imo.

He is one year removed from 34 goals and 82 points which is kinda nuts to think about. He's only 31. This is usually when guys towards the latter end of their prime, not on their last legs.

Next year also his last chance to get sizeable contract with cap going up.

I'm expecting 25+35. Wouldn't be surprised to see more.

Only thing I can see disrupting that is DJ's unpredictable system.

So, .8m left to sign Pinto...

One potential outcome, say Bath gets caught up in the TC stuff, but the suspension is modest because his involvement was the rumoured in and immediately leaves. 20-30 games gives us about 1.5 in cap space, enough to sign Pinto, and Bath joins mid season. No need to ship out anybody.
If Batherson is suspended, why wouldnt his cap hit count?

He is not out of shape here. He has a bit of lower belly fat but you can see his upper ribs.

Some guys come into camp with a little extra padding because they know the grueling schedule makes it hard to maintain mass.

He looks like I expected, a tank!

Hope we can fit him in without losing too much (especially Bath) as we can't afford to lose Joseph or Brann IMO. Too thin on D and middle 6 players already.
