Man, Simpson really hates this signing.

Although apparently he didn't like the Giroux signing either.

It's 1 year and there was nothing else to spend the money on, so there's no real risk to this deal.

Not sure what there's to complain about. The only thing that concerns me about this deal is that it may suggest a Batherson suspension.

1 year full NTC won't mean much. If the Sens are out of it , I'm sure Tarasenko will be ok going to a playoff team. He could possibly balk at a couple.

They wont have to attach Greig or Kleven or a 1st to move Joseph.

If they can use Brannstrom + a pick to move Joseph.. they can move Kleven up and have enough to add someone else

I hope not, but Dorion isn't exactly good at trades. And the other 31 teams know he is basically above the cap right now and needs to do something to afford Pinto.

Hard to believe they’d rather do that than just bury Joseph in Belleville for the year.
But does that take enough off the cap to sign Pinto?

So...would we at least get cap relief if Bath is suspended? And what happens if the suspension is only part of the season...how does that work cap wise?

If they waive Joseph they need to replace him and it only provides 1.15m cap relief if he clears
Bath suspension would be cap relief

:popcorn:watching the rest unfold

So we traded the pick for Tarasenko for Rundblad. Used Rundblad to get Turris and got some good years out of him. A few years down the road, we now get Tarasenko, circle is complete.

I want to say I love this signing, its one year and in theory is no risk, but this means that one of Pinto, Brannstrom, and Joseph is being moved to fit in Tarasenko.

Pinto is vital to this roster going forward
Losing Brannstrom would suck, but we'll manage
Losing Joseph would be a plus.

Regardless, looking forward to seeing Tarsenko score 30+ for us!

Wonder who switches over to LW. Wonder how we make room. Lots to figure out, but nothing to complain about. Hopefully he is motivated and feeling good
We can play Giroux, Batherson, Tarasenko down tbe right side. Kubalik needs a playmaker to play with anyways annd Pinto should be playing with one of Giroux/Batherson.

We need to to make sure we have a 3rd line that can score after last year’s secondary scoring debacle.

Gotta be Forsberg who will be LTIR’d. A bit worried that Tarasenko will just Radulov us with Montreal, had 1 great season then bounced to tax-free Dallas for multi year contract.

Can we just acknowledge for a moment how off script the last 365+ days have been compared to historical norms for the franchise. 4 legitimate stars brought in, 2 through FA, all in too good to be true fashion with a "holy sh1t, that actually happened?" reaction tied to them.

Say what you will about the deals, PD and all that but this is big market type behaviour that we have been absolutely starved of for most of our existence.

Add to that the roller coaster of the sale and that we are waiting on an owner who by all accounts is an amazing and passionate person to come out from behind the curtain and who's going to have an "we're just getting started!" attitude. Oh and Brady emerging as the best captain and envy of the whole league and Stu about to set a franchise record for points...

Hot damn if it isn't a good time to be alive...

good signing. Even if it doesn't go too great we should be able to recoup assets required to move Joseph (I LOVE BRANNSTROM SO I HOPE NOT HIM) by trading him at the end of the ssn if we arn't doing good.

I think he will fit in better than people think, he's not soft.
