What an amazing human being. Shows why its important to cheer for your hometown team. The Leafs players aren't coming to Ottawa to cheer up our sick kids, and putting money into these efforts here.
Yeah but they wear blue and Ottawa 90s kids are a weak people and they cheer for teams based on their dads favourite colour.

Agreed. I was responding the adele who thought he'd want longer.
I mean, I don't think he's gonna go fishing for a 5-6 year contract, with his history with injuries. He has to know he won't get that on the open market. I can't see him getting over 4 years. Maybe if he goes back home, which I don't believe there are any hints of that happening. Turning 32

4 years is fine, anything more is a no IMO.

If his play continues to be solid, I would be comfortable with a 5 year deal for Tarasenko.
That's a firm no.

3 years is the max they should go with him, even if they have to pay more for the AAV. If you look at the long-term flow of the Senators contracts, there will be quite a few raises to give out by 2027, so you'd want the option of cycling Tarasenko out. 2 is more ideal.

The original Dorion offer of 5 x 5.5M is not looking as bad now. With the cap going up, if he finishes close to PPG, he's probably a 7M player on a 2-4 year term.

by 2027 this organization (Senators) will throw money around like skittles....that year the Sens will go on to complete a natural Stanleys" tour de chapeau " ; winning their 3rd cup in a row, once again with a 16-0 playoff record as they had in both previous cup runs

The 3yr x 6.5m deal that they currently have in place with Giroux would be something that I think that would also be a good fit for Tarasenko.

Don't think that the Sens should go beyond 3 years at his age and recent injury history.
Should he continue at his current pace, he is going to be able to get better offers but I am getting the sense that he likes it here and sees the potential in this team.

11 GP 3G 8A 11 PTS

Tied for 3rd in points with 3 other players.

Leading the team in plus/minus with a whopping +9 (2 higher than Greig, 3 higher than Joseph and Chychrun).

And he's doing this, playing 15:26 which is good for 6th on the team.

On the one hand, he's an older player and I'd rather not use him up too early.

On the other hand, it's hard to see Batherson playing almost 2 minutes more every game.

I'm completely blown away by Tarasenko. I thought he was coming in to be a hot shot hired gun offensive player looking to pump up his value for his next contract. But he's been tremendous defensively, and been a total team player down on the 3rd line. He seems to be relishing the role of a mentor. Just watch the celebration for the 5th goal last night. He seemed especially pumped for Joseph (his former linemate who just got promoted) for that nice assist to Stutzle.

I'm also blown away by him off the ice. He moved his entire family here, and has brought up, unprompted, multiple times, how much he likes the city and how perfect it is for families. He talks about getting his kids playing in local hockey, and his visit at CHEO was heart warming. It almost feels like a coming home moment like when we signed Giroux. Surely there's a chance he re-signs with us for a team-friendly contract, right?

Another one of those players that you don't really watch , other than the highlights. But on your team, you see the nuances in his game, his hockey IQ, and I didn't realize his passion to play the game was as strong as it looks. Great signing.

He should play with Norris and Tkachuk tonight

It's quite possible that if Ott wants Tarasenko back & he wants to come back that they could afford to give him a slight raise for next season. He's making $5 mil now & if they were to give him say Kubalik's money that might be more than enough to keep the 31 yr old for another yr or two especially sense we don't know how much longer Giroux will play either.

I think the Ottawa move will allow Giroux to play here till he is 38/39 maybe even 40 if the sens are really pushing for a cup and haven't done it yet.

Ottawa is not cold by Russian standards and right about now, I'd think Canada is a better place to be than the US for a Russian.

I wouldn't be surprised if a guy with a young family and a lifetime of money that's used to winter doesn't look at Ottawa and think "this is a good place to be"

Been a little less impressive lately. If he’s getting bounced around the lineup.

I like Joseph stutzle tarasenko.
