Just compared points / TOI.
Vladi is 2nd on the team.
(He's played less minutes than the top scorers.)

Going to be tough to keep him if he wants big$$.
He seems to be fitting in well but he needs good linemates on a consistent basis in order to really maximize his talent.
On another note, his off ice community involvement (along with other Sens) visiting CHEO is appreciated. They put a ton of smiles on everyone during some difficult times for families and kids!

He's literally here to cash in on a multi year veteran deal that will probably look pretty awful by the end of it.

We'd be incredibly stupid not to trade him if he's open to it. He'd be one of the top available deadline talents.
Pretty win-win. We'll probably get a 2nd for him, and he's on a ~65 point pace which will let him cash in this summer.

Hopefully. It depends how picky he is with his NMC. If he wants to maximize his potential future earnings, playing in the playoffs would certainly help. But will he only go to a few possible destinations? Or maybe with his young family he'd prefer not to go anywhere?

Hard to say at this point.

Ya I am fine keeping Tarasenko if it’s team friendly but he likely wants to cash in.

Maybe he falls in love with Ottawa and signs for something like 4.5x3 ? Unlikely tho
Probably a year too long on term, but hard to say no at thay aav

I'm fine with keeping him if he extends at a reasonable rate before the deadline, otherwise get that 1st or 2nd in a trade.

Tarasenko has already made 62M. Some guys are going to try to maximize dollars, some guys are going to try to maximize the family situation.

I'd like to see him stay but wouldn't break the bank to get it done. I think it's a good thing having guys around that have won.

Why do some people hope that he chooses Ottawa and re-sign here? He’s clearly not the type of player we need more of, same as Kubalik. Maybe I’m defending the position I had before the season but I still think this and actually had more confirmation since

I would trade them both now, and try to acquire players in the Joseph/Greig mold. This is what we need more of. We need players who hustle, not PP merchants… let’s stop with the Dorion vision a minute, it was clearly not good for the NHL level

I mean they have to trade him. They have to start replenishing the prospect pool. He isn't a long term solution here. If a team is going to give them a late first or a good prospect I see no reason to not do it now. They can't make the playoffs, they gotta make room for Pinto under the cap. May as well.

He's been a good player here too bad the rest of the team couldn't even stay in the playoff race.

Bigger question is who is gonna raplace him?
Very good question indeed. I imagine post-trade deadline when both Taresenko and Kubalik are gone we'll have something like this, assuming full health (in your dreams):

Chuck - Norris - Giroux
Joseph - Stu - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Crookshank
Smejkal - Kastelic - Kelly/McEwen
Chartier

Would be interesting to see how that top 9 can perform. Clearly we'll need some more top 6 depth, at least someone to take Joseph's spot and send him down to the 3rd line. Not much help from the farm next year other than Ostapchuk and maaaaybe Boucher? But those are bottom 6ers.

There should be room for one FA top 6 winger; not sure who's going to be available.

You don't think we'll take any players back in a trade for tarasenko///kabalik?

Unlikely to be a player as good as him.

If we trade either/both at the deadline, those teams will be looking to arm up for the post-season meaning that they aren't going to be sending a top 6 / top 9 guy back.

Maybe someone with a slightly inflated contract who has been underperforming to make the money work.

Moving out both Kubalik and Tank at the deadline makes sense, assuming the Sens are still well out.

Both seem a bit redundant. Need more players who can kill penalties and play a fast responsible physical game I think.

No reason to trade Tank unless he prices himself out, or wants to play somewhere else.

He is a net contributor to the team and we don’t need more picks so much as guys who can play in the NHL now. Add that Tank is a vet who has won a cup and was a key contributor to that win, and he has the makings to continue to add value to this team.

We already have enough picks this summer to add good prospects to the pool. We are trying to win now and going forward, not take steps back to add another prospect to the mix.
