He looked better today. Flyers are a really bad team so I wouldn't put too much stock into it but he made some nice plays on the PP.

Also noticed that he played the 2nd least amongst the forwards after MacEwen. He played basically the same amount as Kelly, just over 11 minutes.
Not that it changes your point much, but Kastelic played less too.

As others have said, he will likely play more when we take fewer penalties and as DJ gets more comfortable with him.

Kastelic is also doing very well in the faceoff circle, the Sens as a whole are doing much better in the faceoff circle & Pinto & Norris are also good at faceoffs.

I like the player, and if we had all of our cap space we could have everyone!

So far so good, and if we can keep him going forward, and he wants to stay, I’m open to it at this point.

Having this many threatens to score, along with a guy who is hard on the puck is exactly what we need in my opinion.

Thought he played well too. Grieg is a pretty good puck distributer lefty shot dishing to Tarasenko on right. I like the line and Joseph is buzzing, great at retrieving loose pucks. Tarasenko had great puck poise and played alot better than he did in game 1. People need to have some patience. He's just getting settled on a new team, new city, new linemates new systems.
We need to be patient with Tarasenko; after about 20 games we can make more informed comments on his value.

Two good assists in the Philly game, he can distribute the puck as well as shoot.

Hopefully he can continue to contribute like that; however, Philadelphia is a bottom of the league team which means it is not likely to continue at a 2PPG pace.

You can bet that an expiring contract will motivate him to play well and put points on the board!
Did not actually motivate him at all last year. He dropped from 82 points to 50 despite playing more games .....

Who knows, there are plenty of teams that aren't that good too, but we do need him to create offence against all kinds of teams.

I wonder if they're going to deploy him mostly as a PP specialist. But his ice-time might also change the moment Norris and/or Pinto are back.
His ice time may be lower due to the # of penalties we took. A lot of forwards who aren't on the PK suffered the same fate. They really have to stay out of the box, especially when playing better teams.

It will be interesting to track this going forward. I never would have bet Tarasenko would lag behind Joseph in 5v5 icetime.

You're talking about a player who was at one point one of if not the best right wingers in the game. Led his team to a Cup, multiple near PPG seasons.
Yes, he's lost a step but players of his caliber never lose the talent that got them to this point.
