Was excited when it happened. Seems like a big mistake at this point.

Put him on the block.

But Pierre you gave him a NTC;

What does that mean again? Don't tell the other team

With such a huge sample size, it was obviously a huge mistake.
I just mean with the cap issues. His lacklustre play is a separate issue. But doesn’t help. He looks slow but I’m not judging him yet.

He looked better today. Flyers are a really bad team so I wouldn't put too much stock into it but he made some nice plays on the PP.

Also noticed that he played the 2nd least amongst the forwards after MacEwen. He played basically the same amount as Kelly, just over 11 minutes.

I wonder if they're going to deploy him mostly as a PP specialist. But his ice-time might also change the moment Norris and/or Pinto are back.

Tarasenko like Kubalik need a setup guy, a playmaker to get them the puck, it will be interesting when Norris & Pinto return who plays with who & if DJ will be willing to spread the wealth a little or whether some guys will be happy in other roles. Batherson, Giroux, Tkachuk & Stutzle are the best playmakers on the team they should be able to do something with that.

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Tarasenko
Kubalik - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - Giroux
Kelly - Kastelic - MacEwan/Smejkal

2 assists but he lost basically every loose puck battle that came to him. Just not impressed with how Tarasenko tries to get or keep the puck

11 minutes for a guy you’re paying to be in your top 6 and very little effort put into getting the puck. Let’s see how this goes but overall not impressed

First off, we've got Vladimir Tarasenko on our 2nd PP. Two years ago, the best guy on our 2nd PP was probably Colin White. Let that sink in for a minute
So yesterday you've got Tarasenko on the PP coming right down main street between the circles. He's a shooter, so everyone has to respect the shot. Without so much as twisting his head, the puck was in Chychrun's wheelhouse for a one timer. Boom. Goal.

We had 6 minors. He doesn't PK. Really never has. His minutes will creep up. Need to resolve the center situation

Live at the game I thought he played well. Doesnt shy from the corners and is strong on the puck. I thought new line combos helped him, credit to DJ there, not sure what he thought putting him and Kubalik to start but hey….

I think people exaggerating cause of mostly Simmer on Twitter who keeps being on his case. Guy can still play and is here for a year and 5M, not the end of the world. Simmer said Giroux was slowing down last year lol….

It sucks cause of the Pinto situation but that’s on Dorion, maybe give Tarasenko more than a game…

Of course no team wouldn't want Tarasenko on their 2nd PP unit
That's a given

Also no team would trade their 2C for Tarasenko
(I know Pinto is our 3C but thanks to the cap issue its our 2C atm)

I thought Tarasenko looked really good yesterday. He makes Kubalik expendable, much better version of similar type player. Of course, Pierre won't do the right thing and trade Kubalik, as he's so insecure, and won't want to make the Debrincat 2 deals look worse.

I suspect that Tarasenko is likely a decent character and positive contributor to the team. Shawn Simpson has tweeted several times that he hears from his source in St Louis that Tarasenko is a bad guy, which pretty much proves the opposite is true.

Mind you, I do feel sorry for Simpson's situation right now. He was one of the worst NHL executives ever, no team will ever hire him. And he lost his radio gig, which was bs. He was one of the best Team 1200 contributors, hope he gets another radio gig or a profitable podcast. Yes, he has some dumb opinions, but we don't listen for radio guys to be right, we listen because they are interesting personalities, and he was.

You can bet that an expiring contract will motivate him to play well and put points on the board!

Thought he played well too. Grieg is a pretty good puck distributer lefty shot dishing to Tarasenko on right. I like the line and Joseph is buzzing, great at retrieving loose pucks. Tarasenko had great puck poise and played alot better than he did in game 1. People need to have some patience. He's just getting settled on a new team, new city, new linemates new systems.

All of this is true.

We also need to accept that his pace won't be improving much. He won't be a transporter but from the dots down he can protect the puck and make plays.

He also leans on guys defensively. I am not sure what people thought his game was? He won't be super flashy but he will be effective and if his point pace keeps up, he will be a deal at $5M.

Was looking to make contact while he had the puck in the ozone as well. Bowled over one defender, missed on another reverse hit. Looks like he can play pretty heavy, hang onto pucks and make the right passes.

Playing heavy and hanging on to pucks is exactly what DJ is calling for more of.
