Murray is owed 8mill something tells me Ottawa won't do that
Insurance covers all but 2 mil, and we're already on the hook for 1.5

edit: 1.5 is actually the cap hit we're on the hook for, salary is 2 on the dot... lol.

Tarasenko was player for the Blues the season after that (12-13) the same year our draft target in Schwartz played significant games (he'd played 7 a year earlier). Again, he was ready on the same schedule as Schwartz who we were well known to be after and pulled the trigger on the rundblad trade after he came off the board.

Tarasenko did not join the Blues until 2013, for the last 38 games of the season (2012/13)… so almost three years after he was drafted …. His commitment to the KHL is the main reason the Sens decided not to draft him,,and traded the pick to St Louis, who were okay with waiting almost three years for him to join the team.

Better than a nurses uniform I guess.

you're going to have to provide some sort of source, or any evidence other than PIOOMA for me to buy any of this claim that the main reason we didn't draft him had anything to do with wanting someone sooner. Tarasenko only didn't play till Jan 2013 because of the lockout, he came over once the NHL started back up, not after a KHL deal expired.

how does Matt Murray going on LTIR help more than Matt Murray's salary being completely off the books? seems like a wash to me.
Because atm they are 2 million over the cap , and that includes using MM 4.7 million as LTIR.
If MM gone or becomes healthy, they are 6.7 million over.

Toronto needs MM LTIR themselves to help with cap, don’t see it happening.
LTIR doesn’t mean he has a negative cap hit.

How do we know it's even true or just another way to criticize management, the team or city they don't like or click bait? It could be someone's opinion & not fact at all & as always they don't name the source. Was it one of the Mann brothers? I'm not a fan of Dorion, but this is a good signing for this team, unfortunately some always find a way to create a negative spin regarding this team even when there is good news & want to see this team fail. I give it :thumbd::thumbd:down.
Strickland doesn’t need anyone from the Sens org to leak anything to get his info.

No, they are 12 mil over the cap, including Murray's 4.6, and Muzzin's 5.6 which are both potential options LTIR

Take away Murray's 4.6 by trade, or put him on LTIR, it comes to the same thing, either they are 4.6 closer to being cap compliant, or they have 4.6 mil in salary relief. Either way they still need to clear about 2.5 mil *assuming Muzzin goes to LTIR.

I know if you look at the numbers you quoted from me, I excluded his name and cap hit, to not muddy it up with more names.

after thinking it over again I agree with you.
If he came here, he’d probably declare himself healthy at Christmas, to piss off the Sens.

This article shows cap space with Greig still counting against the cap.
Either way the Sens are going to need to make some sort of move to gain space to Sign Pinto and fill in the roster.
The article also compares DeBrincat with Tarasenko but does not bring in the addition of Kubalik as well which to me is a factor in moving DeBrincat for Kubalik and cap space to sign Tarasenko . Granted another move is required but any loss in that move should be easily absorbed.
Still has good info.

What click bait. Where are the "red flags" in the article? I was looking for all kinds of really bad stuff!

They should be able to tell him to pound sand if it came to that. Or throw him in and wait for the inevitable injury within a game or two.

Why are you making a mountain out of a molehill?

I remember the talk on the local radio station and the local, papers, about why they passed at drafting Tarasenko, and traded the pick for a player drafted the year before in Rundblad. The Sens didn’t want to wait for him to finish out his commitment to the KHL.

Just have to take a look at hockey DB, and see that he played in the KHL starting in 2008, and finished with 31 games in the 2012/13 season, before coming to the NHL in 2013…. I’m pretty certain the 31 games in the KHL were from the beginning of the 2012/13 season, and the 38 games in the NHL were in the 2013 half of the 2012/13 season.

If you want evidence I recommend Frank Cannon or Joe Mannix, both PIs who can dig through the newspapers on microfilm and give you the answers you seem to feel are so important to you.

Draft reports say he indicated he was willing to come over when asked in interviews and he indicated his contract extended one season after the draft. You've made a narrative about why we didn't draft him, no clue why, but it seems based on misinformation and miss-recollection

2012/13 was the lockout, he played opening night, which was Jan 19th, there were no games in 2012 that season so like many other players he found another league to play in until the lockout resolution.

Injuries, suspensions and/or cap-shedding roster moves may come, but for right now it's pretty exciting. In back-to-back years they've added veterans who have at times been truly exceptional players to support and guide the young core. That they're no longer at their peak doesn't diminish the impact of their guidance and experience.

Hope he works out. He's had major shoulder injury the last few years, and low numbers. I guess 1 year @ $5 million won't break the bank...

I am pretty sure the Sens didn't like drafting Russians back then. Not sure if we just didn't have a presence in Russia or its cause Melnyk is from Ukraine but there was definitely a period of time where we didnt draft russians for whatever reason

We didn't have a scout for the KHL for a fair while, we'd have seen top talents like Tarasenko in major tournaments though.

There was definitely a Russian factor that affected lots of teams, the KHL was offering big contracts at the time, for example that was around the time they lured Jagr away.
