ever since the jays hired montoyo i always felt he was a placeholder type of manager, young, speaks spanish, not very demanding on his players etc. i get why he was hired, especially with how many latino and rookies/inexperienced players we had. watching the team this year i think the jays feel like a reflection of him, a little too relaxed and prone to dumb mistakes. this team has a buttload of talent, but that only gets you so far, now we need to instill the killer instinct and hate to lose attitude. im not in the locker room so clearly im just guessing based of of what i see with on field actions and interaction with the media, but i find it hard to imagine this guy is very demanding of his players based off all his actions and what he says. i dont think this team will reach its very high potential with him at the helm. just my opinion but i dont see it with this team with this particular manager. his in game managing speaks for itself so no need to get into that further lol.

Berrios looks good to me. Good for the longer term. Maybe even this year. 32% chance of making the playoffs according to fangraphs. So short and long term are what management should have in mind.

Plesac is younger, has more control, and might have a higher upside, but he also might be a jackass that doesn't fit our culture so Berrios it is. If we can get Taylor in the deal it would really help our bullpen.

What’s the deal with Plesac?

His dad pitched for the Jays and I think he'd be put in his place by the entire group here. Ryu and Ray are pros.....

Selfishly breaks team/city protocol at the height of the pandemic to hang out with friends and then takes no responsibility for it at all, blaming "the media." He also just has that look.

Zach Plesac sent home after violating health and safety protocols and 3 more things we learned Sunday about the Cleveland Indians
As first reported by The Athletic, Plesac, 25, was kept isolated from teammates and the rest of the Indians’ traveling party after the club discovered he left the the team hotel. Plesac pitched six scoreless innings against Chicago on Saturday afternoon in a 7-1 Indians victory.

The Indians were reportedly extremely displeased with Plesac’s decision, as were some of his teammates. According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, rather than putting Plesac on a flight back to Cleveland, the Indians hailed a car service to drive the young right-hander home from the Windy City.

Ray's an upcoming free agent and Ryu barely speaks English.
What I mean is that he's not on a team where he's going to have people following his antics. He'll need to conform or be cast out. (thanks, Rush)

This was also the same incident that caused Cleveland to move on from Clevinger. Looking back I'm surprised they didn't trade Plesac last summer.

I wouldnt mind trading for him as a buy-low candidate. But between bad performance and judgement I'm not sending any of our top 8 guys for him.

Mock Draft: Who will be selected tonight?
19. Blue Jays
Callis: Gunnar Hoglund, RHP, Mississippi

The Blue Jays figure to take a college player. Unless someone falls, it could come down to Hoglund, a top-10 choice before he blew out his elbow in May and had Tommy John surgery, and Eastern Illinois shortstop Trey Sweeney, who's becoming the consensus No. 5 college bat available. Left-hander Anthony Solometo is one high schooler who could factor here.

Mayo: Ryan Cusick, RHP, Wake Forest
Prep lefty Anthony Solometo could still figure into the conversation here, or they could go the high school hitter route with Joe Mack or Jay Allen, who gets mentioned quite a bit. But Cusick’s power stuff is tough to ignore.

I believe they had the Jays taking Solometo three mock drafts in a row and their last mock neither Callis or Mayo have him going to the Jays. Perhaps Solometo worked out a deal with another team.

Like I said before, I don’t have many issues with most prospects at 19. I’d be content with Hoglund or Cusick.

Gunnar Hoglund is a pretty great name merging a couple of sweet, Swede Leafs in the past. I’m down.

Just throwing shit against the wall here. but with the Braves losing Acuna for the year and already being 4 games back of the Mets, could they become sellers? Smyly and Morton are pending free agents, as is reliever Shane Greene
