All young players with good upside..there's nothing wrong with that...Way too early to start jumping to rash conclusions..The Sedins were 'what if's' for a number of years.

Having said that..Kravstsov is going to have to come to camp in September, and earn himself a spot..He will be given that opportunity..He will either take advantage of it (because its probably his last shot at the NHL) or he wont.
In the Sedins D+5, where Kravtsov is now, they were still ~40-point players. Kravtsov has 45 points in his entire NHL career.

Not comparable.

I wasn’t comparing the Sedins to Kravtsov..(Kravtsov has never even been a useful player)

I was pointing out that some players (relative to where they were drafted) have had questionable years to start off of their careers.

Add Kravtsov to Rathbone Karlsson as players i would add to Myers to help get rid of that contract

Things have changed dramatically for Russian players. Before, they all had the option of returning to Russia and earning good tax-free money playing in the KHL. Kravtsov has already done it once before.

But the way things are going in their homeland these days, a lot of Russian players are desperate to stay in the NHL. How desperate? Well we're about to find out with Kravtsov,

If he doesn't come to camp in the best shape of his life and with a lot more energy and determination, then his place in the league will be in serious jeopardy.

He may have to ride the bus in Abby but if he's smart he would do it to better his game. Unless you're playing for one of the top 3-4 organization in the KHL it's definitely not a grass is greener spot.

Get a proper strength and conditioning coachand be a student then sign a 2 way contract to play a full season in Abby see where you're at bynthe mid point of the season. But by what's been rumored around this player, he likes to do things his own way - so I have my doubts he'll take the best path for success or ever make it in the NHL.

Like who? Just curious, because my faith would be a lot higher if I have a real example of someone that's as bad as he is right now, and ended up being a good top 6 player.

Jared McCann comes to mind.
Not saying Kravstov can score 40 but I can understand the optimism, kinda.
Kid has a lot of talent just no heart at all, kinda like virtanen.

Kravtsov’s motivation varies too much game to game for me to have much hope for him.

Still hold out hope but he has to go to Abby next year. I think I read that he won't, but it's bad that almost everyone who we have tried out including McDonough looks more competent than him already.

It was a fine bet because it cost next to nothing.

But there is a reason it cost next to nothing

I remember after the trade, a Ranger fan told me he kind of had entitlement issues. The stats don't lie... he isn't NHL caliber. Not sure how he'll handle playing in AHL after tasting pro hockey in KHL and NHL.

lol, even Virtanen's early seasons weren't as bad.

Speaking from being an entitled brat in the past, maybe the kid needs a big wake up call before taking his career seriously. If that’s the case hopefully it’s not him getting kicked out of the league like Virtanen.
He’s already on thin ice, let’s hope he’s smart enough to figure that one out.

He’s going to have to clear waivers next year. I’m assuming that he will be signed to a 1-year show me contract because of management’s long standing interest in him. But it might be the case that unless he makes the team out of camp, that he’s claimed or bolts to the KHL or both.

Jared McCann was in his 3rd straight season of scoring 30 ES points/82 from bottom-6 minutes at the same age Kravtsov is now. He was an exponentially better player already a few years younger than Kravtsov is now.

McCann wasn’t exactly scoring a whole lot his first two seasons in the league too bro.

On a semi-positive note, Kravtsov is type of former top-10 first round pick that Benning would have blown a second round draft pick on.

All he cost Allvin was AHL forward Will Lockwood and a seventh rounder. So if he flops, it's hardly a disaster for the Canucks.

Nothing has changed in regards to the KHL. Russians dream of the NHL (like anybody else) but they're not gonna spend too much time toiling in the AHL with the pull of the KHL at home. Or they'll just sign in Russia until they're all but guaranteed a spot in the NHL like Nikishin, Khusnutdinov, Rashevsky, Gritsyuk did recently.
I dont see Kravtsov willing to play in the AHL given his age.

Yeah, not feeling optimistic about Kravtsov but it's the kind of low risk / high reward move that we should be making and will need a few to work in order to have a hope that we build a contender.

I would have rather had a rebuild but if they're forced into a retool this is the way to do it...not the Benning way.

I wonder what if any role the "situation" in Russia might have in making players be a bit more tolerant of options in the NHL / AHL rather than going back there. Not just conscription but the uncertainty geopolitically, economically, etc.

One of the benefits if Abbotsford is that if people are on the bubble you can still settle in in a sense with a life knowing that whichever team you're sent to you likely won't have to move houses. If I'm a bubble player I'm getting a house in Surrey that I can be almost equidistant to either team, lol.
