If anyone understands having to accept someone who one went to war against, it's Talbot. Remember what jersey he used to wear?

I remember hearing about Tony Twist beating the ****s off of Kelly Chase in a fight back in the 90's during a game. These two guys were best friends. Twist was renting a house off Chase at the time too.

It's water under the bridge majority of the times with hockey fights.

I haven't gone to the Habs or Pens boards yet, but I plan to go read them at some point today.

Just look at the trade boards. So much butthurt. If you read earlier before he signed so many posters were salivating at getting Vinny. Now he sucks and is overpaid.

Flyers have nearly 6m left in cap space; potentially 10m if they move Meszaros, who is just sitting there, useless in the press box.

Schenn is likely to go to wing.

There is NO cap crunch, thanks

Oh... my bad, I went on capgeek and they're showing the Flyers over the cap.

Schenn on the wing is interesting, I can see why Philly would rather just move Mezaros as opposed to Coburn.

Thanks guys.

Philly sure seems to love their French Canadians.

Wait, doesn't this violate an immutable law of HFboard physics? No one is allowed to sign or trade with the Flyers after all the organizational sins.

VL may have signed to play here for less. Ahhhhahaha.

Remember kids, a FA signing is just an offer sheet that is a sure thing. Homer strikes again.

To put it in context for those on the fence about this move its like having Briere at 3 years younger and $2M less of a caphit.

No way. It's like having Briere's production.

But he's bigger, better on the boards, can protect the puck, and can take faceoffs.

This is much different.

Our defense will be a lot better than last years - Streit of course the obvious addition but full, healthy years from Timonen, Coburn, Grossmann and Gustafsson in addition to the growth and emergence of Luke Schenn and Gustafsson will improve the group of defensemen we put out every night by a lot. No more Gervais as our 4th most used defender, no more Foster or Huskins or Lilja or Meszaros (who honestly had terrible Corsi numbers this past year).

The forwards have gotten a lot better defensively, too. Healthy years from Hartnell and Talbot, plus the exit of our worst defensive forward (Briere) and the arrival of a really solid two-way play who can actually win draws (Lecavalier) and the possibility of a new young, quick, and defensively sound 4th liner (Laughton) I think the team's two-way ability has gone waaaaay up.

Lecavalier addresses many key issues but I think faceoffs and puck possession is the key. He will also be able to take pressure off of Giroux and Couturier/Schenn and gives them incredible strength down the middle both now and for years to come.

A 2nd goaltender should now be the no.1 priority. Tim Thomas, despite all that would be negative about signing him, would be fantastic. Play him 40 games, 30 games, or 50 games and give the rest to Mason. Mason isn't inexperienced, as the kid played over 240 NHL games before the age of 25. Mason is a key part of the team that I think people are overlooking. If all goes well this season, Mason will likely have won the no.1 role...
