Valhalla is fun, though I stopped playing pretty abruptly when HFW came out. Might pick it up again but honestly I really don’t like how it jumps from one era to another and it’s so insanely big.

If you like AC then Odyssey is a great chapter in the series. It has a larger focus on ancient mythology, and the Assassins vs Templars isn’t as prominent which is good or bad depending on your preference. I also thought they did a really good job creating the world of Ancient Greece.

If you’re looking for something different I recommend Valiant Hearts: The Great War. One of the better stories I’ve played through.

Valhalla is bigger and better looking than Odyssey, but the skill system is much worse, as is the loot system. Overall Odyssey is the better game.

I may be in the minority but I don't like the new hack n slash button mashing combat system that came with AC Origins/Odyssey/Valhalla. Give me AC3's silky smooth combat system again

Fully agree, I loved the old style, not at all enamored with the latest 3.

This is one reason I stopped after Origins.

Plus the intrigue of the story between present day and ancient times was kind of put on the backburner in favor of just reproducing the period themes. Though I did appreciate the ability to climb the pyramids.

I don't know about minority but I'm on board. The smooth counter-play and lethality of the combat was half the thing for me. A guy comes at you wrong, you parry and kill, not this block smash smash smash shit.

They're still fun enough games but they're not anywhere near what those first few Assassin's Creed games were. Rooftop fights with the knife or hidden blade ruled, and I'd get into them on purpose in an endless way. Even when Valhalla gave me more combat runs than I could bother to complete the thing was just too different.

The weird thing is that I liked Valhalla's combat trees and how easy it was to branch out. The only "must have" for me was the ability to hold a 2H weapon in one hand, which made the weapon combos limitless and pretty fun to perfect. Ultimately, though, I never even finished conquering all the territories and have no idea how it ends.

If you've ever gone through the pain in the ass of building a PC, or especially when you've needed to add new hard drives or graphics cards to an existing build, you probably know that plugging in new SATA or graphics card cables sucks in most standard mid towers. When all you really want to do is plug in a single new cable, you have to figure out how to get your hands in tight spaces amid a sea of cables. This is because PSUs have traditionally always been designed with the cable ports located on the opposite side of the rear-facing exhaust fan and power switch.

Corsair's latest series places the cable ports on the side. That's it. That's all they changed. A simple and small innovation, but it's dozens of little improvements like this that have made case and PC peripheral design so much better today when you compare it to the late 1990s. I really hope this catches on.

Thank goodness Hogwarts Legacy is coming out in 5 days because I've had it up to here with all this dying in Elden Ring

I'm level 67 I shouldn't be taking so much damage

Gotta remember the 5 D's of Dodgeball when playing Elden Ring

Anyone play the new dead space remake? God i loved those games back in the day

Just finished God of War: Ragnarök.

Excellent game! A few too many RPG elements for my liking and they could have trimmed the number of side quests but the story was good, the gameplay felt a bit tighter than the prior game, and the graphics were excellent. 12 thumbs up!

Caved and preordered Hogwarts Legacy. I’ve been reading Harry Potter with my older two and my son has become real into video games so I think it’ll be something fun we can share. I’ve also had no luck getting into any game recently but I’m pretty pumped for this. Will be a good bit of nostalgia and the reviews are solid so far.

Actually yes I did download it but I never started it. Forgot about it

The premium tier or whatever on PS+ is pretty sweet. I got Yazuka for free and my son has been obsessed with Sonic since I played it with him on my Sega so I searched Sonic in the PS Store and downloaded Sonic Forces for free. It’s wild how far games have come but it still feels remarkably like Sonic 2 which is undoubtably the most iconic Sonic game ever. The levels are similar in theme which is really neat.

Also f*** Elden Ring. That’s $40 I’ll never get back.

We TOLD you to give Skyrim a chance:)

You should btw. Screw direct combat, just learn how to stealth well. You can stealth most of the mobs in the game, the only ones you'll have to worry about are the bosses. Anyway the strength of Skyrim is not the combat but the huge and interesting world to explore (with the DLCs Dawnguard and Dragonborn its a massive game). .

I actually think I could grow to like it, I have just been completely buried at work since the end of 2022 so I haven’t had time to get into it (or anything else). The little I did play was beautiful, aside from the fact that I played it for probably 3 total hours and probably died 50 times, without exaggeration.
