Only now realized that the PS5 bluray player does not support dolby vision HDR even though a roughly 200 dollar sony 4k bluray player does support dolby vision HDR right next to it?

Not sure if related, but Nvidia released VideoSuperResolution feature in their new driver which upscales any video played in chrome or edge browser. So if you watch NHL streams on your PC (like me), you can increase quality. Supported cards only rtx 3000 or 4000 series.

I can't really tell if it works or not. And not much info on which streaming services in edge/chrome it works on. Definitely didn't see it working on wiz/hawks game.

I have to check on tonights game. Maybe on fast-moving objects, upscaling is less performant? Hard to tell. It's definitely working on youtube vids

The original Cities Skylines was good. Users made mods with real life Japan / Korea / Europe buildings but those always killed my high end computer so I gave up on it.

Started playing more FIFA especially with the AFC Richmond / Ted Lasso tiein.

Not exactly video game related but wondering if I could get y'alls input on a TV issue I'm having:

Recently, out of nowhere my 3 year old 75 inch samsung smart tv seemingly broke on its own. It just powered itself off one morning, so I unplugged it from the outlet and waited a bit to try and reset, and when I plug it back in, it just keeps cycling on and off just to where the backlight will come on then go right back off as the red power light flashes a few times..no logo pops up or anything. Can't do anything with remote, tried changing cord/outlet location, nothing. This happens of course after my warranty has run out.

Called a few repair shops and from what I told them in the above they all seem to think it a power supply board issue, something to do with bad capacitors most likely. I don't have the skill or know-how to really venture taking this thing apart and trying to fix myself. Any thoughts on this/someone had a similar issue before? I'm being quoted no less than $800-900 or more for a fix which is wild to me and wondering if it makes more sense to just get a new TV

Try pulling the power cord completely out of the TV, not just out of the outlet. Then plug it back in and try again.

If it's projection could also be a lamp/bulb problem causing some weird loop. There's also a wheel that spins that can cause similar errors, iirc.

But try the power cord thing first.

There might be a way to do a hard reset for the TV I'd google the model and see if there is one. Not sure if you have a home theater battery backup but that happens to my main tv when the $300 dollar battery for it needs to be replaced.

The thing that kills me about the Samsung TVs they don't support Dolby Vision HDR for some dumb reason.

Anyone here playing Slay the Spire or Hades? Both excellent (and extremely different) games with lots of replay value. Spire is a deck-building roguelike and Hades a rather brutal roguelike slashing type thing. Extremely satisfying when you beat a run.

They don't want to pay the fee, plus they helped with HDR 10+

Oh I know... but are any streamers even using it or any 4k blurays? I believe my Oppo/LG tv does support HDR+ but crickets.

I've played Slay the Spire on and off since it's release. Not a ton, but maybe 10-20 hours invested. Beat it with a couple classes, but still need more runs in with some of weirder ones.

My daughter had a sleep over and broke our basement TVa few weeks ago. Wouldnt turn on, the remote was left in water ...

Unplug, wait 5 mins, plug back in didnt work.

Unplug for a day, go back down and it wont turn on. 99% convinced I have to buy a new TV.

Week or so later, go back down and for like shits and giggles plug it back in .. and the f***er turned on.

Point of the story? TVs are a fickle bunch.
