I actually think I could grow to like it, I have just been completely buried at work since the end of 2022 so I haven’t had time to get into it (or anything else). The little I did play was beautiful, aside from the fact that I played it for probably 3 total hours and probably died 50 times, without exaggeration.
...in skyrim? or elden ring?

skyrim wise if you're not loving the sort of slow sweepy sword stuff just play magic or ranged and turn it into a shooter. spellcasting is pretty fun in skyrim, even if you do a spellsword sort of thing to stay beefy

my other little personal thing that seemed to work for me is playing a lot of my melee combat in third person. I figured if it's going to be a little bit clunky I don't need to see that up close, and it weirdly looks and feels different in third person. I'd explore and do maybe a few minor encounters in first person, especially when shouts and whatever would be worked in, but certain things just felt and worked better for me third person so I'd pop out, do them, and then pop back in.

At a certain point of character growth I always trend towards the third person view anyway, I like to see my armor and progress, so it becomes a third person-ish game where you snap into first person combat for precision if necessary for me, which almost makes it cooler.

Pharaoh: A New Era just launched yesterday, and it's the same excellent game from 1999 with new graphics over the old city-building game engine. It was a great game and this makes it much more suited to current technology. My only gripe is that support for ultrawide monitors isn't native, playing in widescreen with sidebars unless you go into the files and force it, like 3440x1440. I do this and it works, but the interface doesn't scale. I'm sure they'll patch it soon. It's easy enough for them to do.

Pharaoh is one of my all time favorites, and this doesn't monkey with what worked well and adds much in the way of graphics, overlays, smoother frame rates, etc.

This Midnight Suns game reminds me of yakuza LAD.l It's pretty much turn based Marvel combat

I'm reaching a wall with Elden Ring that I may join in Hogwarts Legacy very soon

Not much more I can do in Elden Ring without getting beat up on
It’s a really fun game, especially if you’re a fan of the series. It’s really impressive how detailed and accurate they were able to make the world. The combat is great though a bit repetitive at times and there’s a ton to do and explore. Easily the most fun I’ve had since Forbidden West.

Returnal was just released on PC a few days ago. Going to have to recommend it again to our PC gamers in here.

I finally caved and started downloading it. Was a big fan of the books growing up and loved the movies so excited to see the open world they’ve developed.

It was wild to see like 4 NFL guys at the Super Bowl press walks going on about being obsessed with this game. Heinicke said he'd logged 24 hours in his first few days on Pat McAfee's show, then George Kittle was in the wings talking to them about how he's been playing it a ton, too. Huge NFL guys talking about their houses...

"Bah, you're Griffenpoof? p***y!"

"Listen to you, you're Slitherkin all the way, dick!"

And the other NFL alphas around that had no clue what they were talking about, making fun. It's crazy to see the Harry Potter generation "all grown up"... kind of.

The HP craze completely missed me, but everyone's raving about the game. Gonna watch some reviews and maybe check it out.

That game might be the one to get me to take the leap to PS5
It’s quickly joining the ranks of my favorite PS games along with the Horizon series and Ghost of Tsushima. The combat is really fun with learning the different spells and putting them together in combinations. They’ve done a good job with inventory management not feeling tedious and the load out designs are cool. Even if you’re not a fan of the series the mechanics are great and the world is still really well done both inside and outside of the school. The first time you get your broom and fly around is really pretty neat and the scenery is top notch.

I was hesitant in thinking a game built on the Harry Potter series could have a compelling story or characters without Harry Potter and his friends and foes but it’s really a fun game to experience.

Okay, I have no idea what this is, but it looks like what happens when you put too much silicone in a blender with a Kardashian.

The first time, boom, she has bigger boobs, fine. The second time, she has a bigger butt, fine. But you pushed it too far, and now she duplicated into two voluptuous cyborgs bent on taking over the world -- making men drool until they completely dehydrate and women watch reality shows until their brains melt.

...

I would watch that movie. Make it so.

Actually, an early version leaked and it seems they reduced the size of boobs since then. Probably to not shock too much sensible modern society.
