Nameless Puppet is a real pain in the ass. The first phase actually isn't too bad. I've gotten much better at timing the perfect guards, but the second one is just not enjoyable. He's so erratic, does massive damage, can close the gap in an instant, and can frickin laser beam you from across the room.

I'm going to beat him though, because I am a stubborn bastard.

It was easily 4-5 hours of work for me. Had to take frustration breaks periodically. I can now understand some critics lamenting about the combat balancing issue with some of the bosses. Then again, for a 1st time Soulslike game from a small studio, this is a great Soulslike. Curious to see the DLC that’s being planned for this game and the sequel as well.

The difficulty spikes with Nameless Puppet and the Swamp monster (for me at least) were a bit nuts though.

Champs? I haven’t played any games. Finished the Cup before Monday though and got a nice voice message out of it. :)
Consider how toxic the FIFA community is, then consider just how f***ed the game must have been for me to receive THREE unprompted messages in six games from opponents saying they had no idea how they won and the game screwed me.

I swear on my life, I've never seen anything like what happened in champs tonight.

I heard Cannavaro is great and he’s pretty cheap, but I’m not sure. Might just save my fodder to get another horrible icon pick when the SBC refreshes in two days.

You? I know you don’t have enough CBs so…

Right? I went from playing with a gold CB for half a year to too many CBs. Might run 5 back with all CBs. :sarcasm:

I’m doing Baggio now. They dropped all Milan/Serie A icons recently so I’m going to try and knock them all out so I can actually live up to my team name lol.

Cannavaro looks like Maldini in Messi’s body.

Did Cannavaro. Hopefully he’s good because I replaced VVD with him. VVD is on my shit list because in WL he f***ed me with 1) being way too slow to deal with meta players, and 2) his AI defending cost me like literally 10 penalty goals against.

Yeah, Cannavaro is obviously short, but his aerial PS+ seems to make up for that. Threw an anchor on him so all his defending stats are maxed, 99 jumping, and 95 strength.

Plus he can also play RB, just so you know you have a little 5-back flexibility ;)

First thing I noticed lol. That’s part of the reason why I’m going to do him. Even if I don’t go 5 back, I usually keep my RB on stay back while attacking anyway. Then I can move Frimpong to the wing. I’ve been trying to make a 5 back work but I find it really hard to build up offense. Maybe I’ve just gotten so used to it but 4321 is clear offensively.

I think I’ll put a shadow on him since he only has 80 sprint speed and he’s not lengthy.

Oh and if you have any low rated golds put them in the 80+ player pick within the next hour before it expires. Good fodder builder.

I don’t have a single gold under 81 left.

Yeah, might try Shadow after a few games of Anchor. He did feel kinda slow when I used his loan card yesterday.

And I have the same issue with attacking when using 5 back.

Took me probably 50+ attempts, but it is done. I used the perfection grindstone and the amulet that gives you increased attack after a perfect guard to deal huge damage and cause stagger. Once he was half-ish health, I bombarded him with throwables and just smacked him a few more times to finish the fight.

Overall, that was pretty f***ing close to a masterpiece, especially considering it was the studio's first Soulslike, and actual game, really. Some of the bosses were pretty unfun, but for the most part that was an incredibly enjoyable experience, and I'm starting NG+ right now.

What you finish? I was 9-5 and gave my last 6 away unless they had Toty loans or Messi. I shouldn’t have since I haven’t been gifted a win in weeks but I thought the karma would lead to better rewards. Nope.

Hell yes! Reminded me a bit of how challenging Gna was from GoWR. How did Nameless Puppet compare to Elden Ring’s Malenia? I’ve heard it’s close to as challenging as her. I’ll get to Elden Ring eventually. Making my way through my backlog to get to it.

I was able to quickly make it through Lies of P for New Game+. Made it to Simon Manus the other day and he is significantly more challenging. His 1st phase is now a pain in the ass and the 2nd phase is Nameless Puppet challenging. Moved onto a different game for the time being (Control Ultimate Edition) lol.

Went from 8-5 to 9-11

I think I literally played Mbappe and Casillas/Yashin in every single one of those 7 games.

I’m dead serious when I say that was probably the best I’ve ever played too. Better than the 14 or 15 in weekends for sure. But even with double the shots and xG, I just couldn’t get a win because nothing would go in and my 88 Cech is a f***ing ghost.

Malenia is different. I'd say she's probably more difficult than Nameless Puppet, but Elden Ring gives you a few more tools to deal with her. Her attacks hit like a truck, can go on forever, and will heal her when she hits you (even if you block them!), but you can summon other players and/or an NPC to help with the fight, and you can totally re-spec your build like I did in order to maximize your DPS. She's weak to bleed, so I acquired a the best bleed weapon and went to town. Once I did that she went down fairly easily.
