Ok baseball nerds, I’m downloading the show 2019. I haven’t played a baseball game since probably the NES.
What am I getting myself into?

Ok wtf. I’m pretty sure the show 19 was a ps plus game. Therefore it’s the full version. This is the second game in a row that I’ve had to play as the braves in a training game. I can’t find a main menu. Not a good sign so far imo

You probably have the game downloaded enough just to play the demo - have to have it fully downloaded to play everything.

I waited until it was 100% before I launched the game. I’m extremely disappointed in a game that I laid nothing for.
I’m completely out of the loop with baseball, let alone the 2019 braves. I have no idea who should be power hitting on that team and I live for the long ball.
Just let me play the full game damnit.
When I pause, exit, I only have two choices, confirm restart or cancel.
After I win, I only get the same two choices.

I just confirmed that the show 19 was a free ps plus game in October 2019, so I “should” have the full game, fully downloaded.

Ok the issue was not fully downloading it. After it hit “100%” the progress bar for the download went away completely. It downloaded the demo portion but did not let me know the game wasn’t wholly downloaded. Thank you.

The character creator is second to none. You can create some true abominations with that thing.

I'm finally able to start doing things for myself in Elden Ring like a big boy. I have two friends telling me to go I opposite directions which hasn't been helping. Now I'm going in the right way for my level and killing bosses solo. I really wish my friend didn't absolutely decimate Godric for me though. I swear I only got three hits in before his first phase ended and maybe one more before he was dead.

Finished elden ring over the weekend and I gotta say it was pretty overrated imo. It was basically just the Witcher 3 played on blood and broken bones difficulty without nearly as good of a storyline or lore and the open world was largely just an open repetitive void to fill time in between the next thing you have to kill. You travel from dungeon to dungeon with nothing really in between. They claim you can go any direction you want, but there’s no way you’re getting passed certain monsters at a lower level. The NPC’s are lifeless and uninspiring. The loot is really dull for beating higher level monsters. I just don’t really see the replay value after grinding through the game. I’m honestly just relieved it’s over. I don’t understand the greatest game of all time hype when it’s not even the greatest open world rpg and did nothing groundbreaking really to the genre. It was a solid game, I’d give it a 7 or 8, but it was far from a masterpiece and not all that different from other Fromsoft games other than being “open world”. What am I missing?

I wanted a change of pace after beating Elden Ring, so I picked up a little game called Wildermyth on steam. The best way I can think to describe it would be a cross between XCOM and Dungeons and Dragons. You control a band of heroes who adventure across the land fighting evil and righting wrongs. Over the course of a campaign your characters get older, have kids, level up, gain abilities, and can actually die in a fight. It's sort-of procedurally generated, where the map is randomized each game, and the specifics of how each campaign goes down will be different, but there are a bunch of in-game 'stories' that are written ahead of time that aren't random. It's quite addicting.

Also, in the first campaign I played, one of my guys adopted a pet fire chicken, who would follow her around in battle and could light bad guys on fire, so it's an easy 10/10 for me, just based on that.

That's great to hear! It's been on my watchlist and didn't know anyone who played it. How are the battles? Decent challenge?

There's another one I've been watching called The Dungeon of Naheulbeuk, which is a tongue-in-cheek take on D&D type games. Seems really fun for that reason alone - I'm all for the serious and hardcore RPGs, but it's nice to see a different spin on it sometimes.

So far I’ve only had one hero die, but I’ve only play one and a half of the entry level campaigns, and that was only on the second hardest difficulty (out of 4, I think?). I get the feeling the end game ones will be a lot tougher.

The end fight of the introduction campaign was a blast though. My heroes were surrounded, about to die, and I realized that I didn’t need to wipe out every enemy, just the ‘queen’ or whatever it was called. So I sent in my glass cannon (who was about to die, which was fine, because one of her skills was that she dealt more damage as she approached death) and absolutely pooped on the boss, winning the fight and the campaign. That was a great feeling. I really can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ve only put in about 10 hours so far but I’m totally hooked already.
