Confirmed Trade: [VGK/CGY/PHI] Noah Hanifin (75% retained), Mikhail Vorobyov to VGK; 2026 1st , 2025 cond. 3rd, Daniil Miromanov to CGY; 2024 5th to PHI

Sure, but how many of those teams are going to have a starting line up in a playoff game that is well over the cap? Pretty apples to oranges swing and a miss by Eric.

FWIW, if Stone doesn't come back for the playoffs then fine Vegas should be allowed to use up that cap space. Its only if he does that people are annoyed with.

What’s funny is that Edmonton already lost to Vegas without Eichel/Theodore. That playoff series is already a formality. Vegas is loading up for 2nd round and beyond
Yes because regular season results mean a lot in the playoffs. That's why the Flames are 21-22 cup champs and the Bruins were last year. And who could forget the 18-19 Lightning.

I wonder if a player is on LTIR and cannot return before the final game of the season, they should just be ineligible for the playoffs

Well I didn’t say they were winning the cup. Hanifin doesn’t move the needle like that. But Edmonton will be out in 5 regardless of this trade

Quite a disingenuous tweet considering 2 of those 9 teams are Colorado and Tampa who started the season on LTIR, then the next highest LTIR hit is Chytil who's career may be over.
Vegas has been on LTIR since Jan 12 with Eichel then Stone. Actually all year if you count in the snakecharmer.

First piece we know is a big win.
Jay Feaster has once again found a diamond in the rough.

What's the hold up here? Is it contingent on an extension? because last time I looked we still didn't have a "confirmed trade with link."

My suggestion was that active 23 man roster or even the starting roster for any playoff game must be cap compliant. There's no grey area there and that allows for people to slot in if injuries occur, but doesn't allow teams to ice a team that is massively over the cap.
Yeah, there's all kinds of grey area there.

1. Define what "cap compliant" means. Again, I can think of a number of ways to define it; instead of picking one of them and assuming that's what you mean, which I have no idea what you're thinking on this, I want you to spell it out in at least some detail, because

2. I want to see if it's defined such that it satisfies the 5 points I raised, which I'm willing to bet are a minimum requirement, because

3. That 6th point - NHLPA approval required - I can guarantee is going to apply.
