I especially liked the part where a poster brings up the past 30 years.

Think about the coaching staff, that alone is enough not to sign in Brooklyn.

For his second contract he would have to battle Snow. IIRC that was a big factor in his decision making.

It will take years for NYI to erase the bad reputation they have, but Snow is still there.

Not a fan of players that do their own world tour, but...

Suprisingly good fit. Rangers need these kind of moves to make their management style work. Could be a decent middle six player for them. Free always helps.

The kid was just exercising his rights according to the CBA. No one has to give him praise, but I can't really fault him for it at all. Maybe it was a lifelong dream to play at MSG and live the young millionaire life in Manhattan? Who knows, but if he were family or a close friend of mine, I'd be pushing him to play in NYC just to be part of the posse

Something happened with Eichel and Vesey. There was a guy showing the Eichel/Vesey line on the suburban Boston area summer league. There were weeks where Eichel and Vesey wouldn't even acknowledge each other on or off the ice. It was like "wow, are these guys even friends?"

Maybe they knew the camera was on them and played it off that way on purpose. But i sort of had a hunch. Playing with EIchel on an upticking team might not be in Vesey's plans.

Maybe Vesey chose the Rangers because he wants to be "the future star" on a team and not play second fiddle to Toews,Kane,Eichel, Matthews. He also chose a big market team.

Could be all about the money with NYR as he'd be able to cash in on big city sponsorship deals that Buffalo can't offer, or that would be taken up by the big stars in Chicago and Toronto.

Vesey wont be a star... What

Their GM was supposedly the smartest mind who couldn't even string a paragraph together in an interview.

you've never heard a Tim Murray interview or press conference, he's the best listen of any GM i've ever listened to. he doesn't talk the pseudo-corporate speak that other NHL GM's do or try to do, he knows what he is - a hockey lifer with no pretensions. he probably is being overrated by Buffalo fans because we all love his personality and approach to rebuilding.

The Sabres are 3 years into a total rebuild and improved markedly last season, if their rebuild is 5 years that's a great job. Barring injuries, they will contend for as playoff spot this year.

Can we stop with the "Buffalo was stupid to give up a 3rd rounder for nothing" narrative?

From the 3rd round on, it's about a 12% rate just to make the NHL. Much less be a great player or even a top of the line up player.

Vesey makes Buffalo's top 6 if he signs with them. They got two months to show him what Buffalo is about, and demonstrate that they value him. Without those two months, they're lumped in with all the other teams: no visit to Buffalo, no exclusive day for Buffalo's team to visit with Vesey. Much tougher for Buffalo to make a case.

That two months is worth the 12%.

Who says Vessey is going to make the NHL??? Better players than him have never made the jump

This still makes no sense to me. This isn't a "hockey decision." It's a "I want to be in the big-city decision."

I really wish I had taken a screenshot of the Leafs fan bragging that Stamkos and Vesey were coming to Toronto.

Whatever makes you feel better about yourself. I guess that fan represents the fan base, am I right? Care to venture over to the Leafs forum to see what the majority thought? Yeah, didn't think so. That wouldn't follow the agenda.

Two teams are the biggest losers in this saga, the Rangers and the Sabres.

One team is in a terminal decline, the other thinks they are smarter than other teams that ripped it all down. The Sabres then sign/trade for vets that think will complete their lineup. Two names: Evander Kane and Kyle Okposo. It's going to be interesting situation when Buffalo is at the bottom on the Northeast. Their GM was supposedly the smartest mind who couldn't even string a paragraph together in an interview.

Vesey wins wherever he signs. He has a Harvard degree, or at least has met NCAA requirements for participation.

Would I have liked him to sign with Islanders? Yep. It would've been fun to see where a guy who cost $925k and a decent resume would've fit in the lineup.

Sabres were competitive since the 90's before the rebuild. There were a few years they didn't qualify but they weren't tire fires, this whole idea they've been bad forever is a joke. The only time they drafted top 10 in the new millennium was Risto at 8 in 2013 and Vanek at 5 in 2003. Add Rasmussen to the list at 7 in 1996 and they go back to 1987, the last time they had 1OA. They've been competative, but every team will eventually need to rebuild, even Detroit will get there one day. So maybe throwing stones because you've been good while you've had Lundqvist isn't the best idea, he will retire eventually.

I really wish I had taken a screenshot of the Leafs fan bragging that Stamkos and Vesey were coming to Toronto.

Toronto Maple Leafs:

FORWARDS:

JVR ......... STAMKOS ..... NYLANDER
KOMAROV ..... MATTHEWS .... MARNER
VESEY ....... KADRI ....... HYMAN
MICHALEK .... HOLLAND ..... SOSHNIKOV
LINDBERG .... LAICH ....... BROWN

...

If Vesey signs with the Leafs it'll just be gravy after the year the buds had. Not a make or break franchise move, but would still be a good addition to the family.

JVR-Stamkos-Marner
Vesey-Matthews-Komarov
Nylander-Kadri-Soshnikov
Greening-Laich-Brown

Call it a night :sarcasm: :sarcasm: :sarcasm:

I think the Leafs will come away with Stamkos and Vesey in FA.

Maybe an older head too, like a Quincey. And one reclamation on a 1yr, like Gagner.

The Leafs Vesey-Stamkos-Radulov line will be fun to watch next season.

Not that difficult to locate.

It doesn't make sense to you that someone would want a chance to live in the most glamorous city in the world while playing on a playoff team vs living in a crappy city while playing on a bottom 10 team?

Why Rangers? Their window has closed.

But duh, he will singlehandedly open it again and make them contenders....

Seriously though who is this guy? Is he supposed to be good or something? I see he had a whopping 3 assists in 9 games in the 2015 World Championships.

Lol this is comical. Especially the "one injury away" part as if the Rangers aren't one mcd injury away from being bottom feeders themselves as staal and Girari are forced top pairing minutes. In 4 years the Rangers will be chasing not only the likes of buffalo but also toronto etc. The Rangers window for being relevant is drastically closing.

McDonagh has had a handful of injuries over the last two years. Still a playoff team.

On top of that we have also lost Nash Stepan and Lundqvist for large chunks of the last two seasons. Doesn't stop us from winning.

If I was a team owner. I would urge the league to look into these signing. First with Hayes and now vescey. I wouldn't be shocked if the rangers are giving more money to the players under the table.

1994 all over again
