Games that start with observations like, “this should be...” rarely end up the actual result.

For once just do it. But not to jinx it, ... ”this should be a very hard fought loss.”

meanngless vs real life situation. All this statistical mumbo jumbo is ruining sports. First baseball, football & now hockey. What about real life eye test....stats do not measure heart, grit, determination....these characteristics are FAR more important than bs stats. am tired of seeing them to justify everything...especially losses.

Not as hyped as I was when I looked at the schedule in September.

If there's a team affected worse by the Habs hangover, it's the Knights.

I haven't been keeping up with the fancy stats but last time I checked Knights were pretty much the worst 5 on 5 team in the league defensively.

Maybe these two negatives discarded by the Habs need to go head to head to undo it. This game is the TSN turning point for both teams. Hopefully we get the W though, not just the curse lifted.
Well their best defender from last year is playing in Chicago.

Did you watch the last 2 games ? He looked good. He was shit in every single game before that. Also how would demoting him to the 4th line make him produce better ? We're all frustrated with him but that does no one any good. Last 2 games he was playing the game the right way and showed effort/compete, not perfect but much much better than the games before. He looked lazy in the first few games, hasn't looked slow just looked uninspired.
Ok, uninspired is good. 10.5m vs 750,000 version. 4th line might inspire him. It was always said he is one of the few wingers in the NHL that could drive a line. Then he doesn't need AM. Go earn your keep. Turn lesser players to better players, rather than pull down AM and Ritchie.

Nah... they are important, all of it. Stats, Eye test, all of it important... you can't just dismiss useful information, just because you don't fully understand it.

20 years ago that would have worked. Players back then were built differently
Players back then would have taken as a feedback

You demote a player play to a 4th line now, you'll hurt his feelings and ego.
Players now need constant positive reinforcement

Marner didn't just forget to play. He's still a solid player. Coaches need to find a way to get him going
Maybe let him focus on offense, don't put him on PK
Maybe try different players. Spezza has hot hands, he could use a player with skills
Take him away from big match ups.

Those are the stuff coaches needs to try

Agree to all you said. He is pulling others down. He is being paid to make others better. This is not about injury, or bad luck, this is about lack of engagement. His social life is more important, you can see it.

Hot take, based on a few games. The guy has been a star here for a few years, and people lose their mind on a small sample set. Calm down new poster guy.

Been watching Leafs for a long time. He is trying to be a star and is failing. He is not a star until he starts winning. His personal life has changed him. He appears to think he has made it, financially he has, ice wise he has not.
Quit bring such a homer that you cannot see through the leaf glasses. 54 yrs of that.

VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS 4-4-0 at TORONTO MAPLE LEAFS 4-4-1
Tonight, 7 p.m., TV: TSN4 Radio: AM 1050
WHY WATCH?
No recent losses here

Each team is feeling good about itself, relatively speaking. The Maple Leafs have won two in a row, while the Golden Knights have won their past three after winning once in their first five games. “Any time you come to Toronto, there is a lot of things going on, a lot of guys from the area,” Vegas coach Peter DeBoer said. “Where do you start (with the Leafs)? A dangerous team and they’re a little bit of a wounded team, which means the coach has their attention.

THREE THINGS ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
1. We’re not going to see anything close to a full lineup from Vegas, as integral players Mark Stone, Max Pacioretty, Alex Tuch, Nolan Patrick, Mattias Janmark and William Karlsson and Zach Whitecloud are nursing injuries. Still, the Leafs were expecting the Golden Knights to bring their usual sound work ethic. Keep an eye out for Michael Amadio, claimed last week off waivers from Toronto.

2. The expectation is that Robin Lehner will get the nod in net for Vegas. He has won his past two games and would be looking to improve upon a solid career save percentage (.925) in 12 games against the Leafs. Versus Toronto, Lehner is 6-5-0 with one shutout.
3. In their first game on a four-game trip, the Golden Knights will attempt to achieve a first for the franchise. They’ve not won in any of their three previous visits to Toronto, losing in a shootout, in regulation and in overtime. To possibly help this time around, the club arrived on Saturday, had a day off on Sunday and practised on Monday.

5-2 Vegas. Leafs Nation back in shambles after a small high from beating a winless team plagued with off ice issues in OT.
