I'd like to think I was some brilliant hockey mind predicting the correct outcome so far in both series, but I have no idea what I am doing.
I did too but I'm not a hockey genius and would never pretend to be. With the Edmonton series, I got it right for the right reasons but I made my vote on pure hope. I felt it could've easily gone to Edmonton in 6 or 7 if Vegas' defense didn't rise to the challenge.

If someone tried to break my arm the week before and expected jocularity in the handshake line a few days later, they'd be sorely disappointed. Draisaitl did what was expected as quickly as possible, nothing wrong with that. If Pietrangelo wanted respect he should have conducted himself respectfully.

Being more upset about an abrupt handshake than an attempt to injure is very strange behaviour. They're not friends and there's still more to come of this. These guys have long memories.
Yeah I talked about it last night. I'm not gonna speak for Pietrangelo but as a fan I take no issue with Draisaitl avoiding eye contact. I mean I wouldn't have been offended if he skipped the hand shake entirely but he still shook his hand.

You've been one of the most levelheaded Vegas fans on this board. Kudos.

In my opinion, Draisaitl did what was expected of him, no more no less. He's a passionate guy that hates to lose and has a legitimate reason to be wholly and entirely pissed off with Pietrangelo. I can see people being mad if he skipped it entirely, but he's a leader and he didn't. Being upset that he wanted absolutely nothing to do with a guy - I'll say it again - that tried to injure him/cut his career short not even a week prior - is very strange behaviour.

They get more if they're in the playoffs.
You think Canadians are out there buying Vegas and Panther jerseys right now?

Half the Leaf fans I know haven't watched a game since they were eliminated. Do they really get the ratings?
The idea is to grow the game. You short term sacrifice a good market to make other markets good. Having the two new franchises battling it out builds up rivalries and cements fan bases and gets new ones interested. If you have a new franchise that never gets anywhere, its really hard to develop.

The League also believe they have Canadians wrapped around their finger because hockey is the number one sport. Just like everyone watches the Super Bowl , they think everyone will continue to watch hockey so they continue getting the TV ratings. The problem is we are on to them. I know I will definitely not watch any further games solely for this reason.

Spicy handshake lineup interaction with Pietrangelo and Draisaitl
Made Drai look like a pouting kid... lack of sportsmanship.

Pieterangelo has no issue with Kane in the lineup after Kane tried to take off his head...

A lack of sportsmanship is trying to injure someone with the puck 30 feet away in a 4-1 game after a try at an empty net.

Kane's play was a penalty, but it was something that happens every game. Pietrangelo's wasn't a hockey play and I'm still a little shocked he was allowed to be in game 6 at all.

It just showed that AP is more professional than Drai... when it happened to him also.
So what is your point. Drai has justification to hate a dirty player that could have ruined his career in a non hockey play. You are definitely a bigger man by forgiving people so easily... Congrats to you. Maybe one day one of your co-workers will whack you with a 2 hander and you can go out and take him for a few beers a couple days later.

No dog in the fight because I’m a Jets fan and the oilers were the bane of our existence in the 80s and 90s but look at the username. A troll looking for a reaction.

Just can't see the tandem staying the same unless Campbell is the starter
You think one of them will be gone next year unless Campbell is the starter? We're stuck with Campbell because nobody is trading for him and Stu had a Calder level rookie season.

I bet Campbell rebounds next year because he won't be under pressure and will start the season as the backup. I see each goalie playing about 40 games unless there's a long-term injury.

It's not like he didn't shake his hand. What did you expect him to do? Give him a hug and a kiss for attempting to break his arm?

Pietrangelo was the one pouting and crying in his interview on Saturday. I don't think I've ever heard a professional athlete whine and cry about being targeted in an interview until then.

He's a great player of course but he had zero remorse about the slash and you know the oilers won't forget that next year. He'll be a target next round as well where I'm sure he'll get blown up again.

That guy, if memory serves, is an ex Oiler fan that bailed to become a fan of the Arizona Coyotes and has been flailing at Oilers fans ever since.

Yeah, so professional he was still whining in the media about it before game 6, didn't take a shred of responsibility for what he did, but decided to bitch about being targeted.
For what it’s worth, it was far more the refs letting the tit-for-tat of the series get out of hand more than any history Pietrangelo has with taking such cheap shots.

What are you going on about? Are you seriously referencing the handshake in which nothing happened? Were you expecting a loving gaze into Petro’s eyes or something?

We know you’re a hater, but you’re the one coming off as a pouting kid if you think anything happened in the handshake line.

With respect to the handshake line, what do people expect Draisaitl do exactly? Give Pietrangelo the standard pat on the back or chest and offer words of encouragement for the next series? That would never happen given what happened a few days ago.

I'll give Draisaitl credit for conducting himself with a level of class somewhat above the minimum required under the circumstances, honestly.

As far as Pietrangelo is concerned, I think he's an outstanding defenseman but with the slash on Draisaitl and comments he made to the media, he's given Dallas or Seattle a blueprint on how to get him off his game. He needs to be a lot more composed given his leadership position on Vegas imho.

I wouldn’t even call it crying, man. Anyone watching hockey during the first few years Crosby was in the league has seen someone get more plaintive about the rough stuff. As close as the Kane hit was to boarding, I could understand him being pissed off, just as I’d get it if Ekholm had an interview with a similar take on Kolesar going to far.

Pietrangelo isn’t even a player that takes penalties like that. Call it the sum of frustration from LD lighting them up, penalties called and the “mutually assured destruction” attitude taken when the ethos of physical play escalated beyond where the refs should have stopped it.

Regardless. He lost more respect from me after his interview then from the actual chop. No remorse and the cry baby justification of him being targeted was ridiculous. I thought this guy was a star defence-man. Of course he's being targeted. He should try being Drai or McDavid who's targeted every minute they are on the ice. I hate Drew Doughty but at least I respect him because he takes the the abuse and has the mental capability to understand that as a star player he is being targeted. Pietroangelo can't hold Drew's jock strap in the respect department. Use to like Pietro a lot but what I learned about him during this series puts him in the scum area of players for me. To each their own of how they view things but that's how I feel about him now.

In other words if Campbell isn't the starter he should be traded - I think he showed enuff in the playoffss to give other teams some interest BUT going to have to eat some of the contract

Good writeup on TSN looking deep into stats
bad starting Goaltending - the 3 amigos failure- Ceci and nurse duo was not good- and marchesseault line totally dominated Hopkins line was big reasons for series failure

Think about this if you're an Oilers fan.

This team, this offensive powerhouse of a club...
