Nugent Hopkins has to be the biggest 100 point fraud in modern era history.

No battle.
No emotion.
Completely and utterly dominated at five on five two post seasons in a row.

He's a PP leach through and through and can't raise his game when his teammates need him too.

There’s a reason he’s been called ‘Ryan Nothing Happens’ amongst social media posts

And at the moment in time that Campbell was inserted, Vegas was playing its version of four corners, more concerned with proteocting their lead than scoring. Campbell's SV% is absolute fool's gold
the moment in time should have been to start the game. enjoy the off season with the rest of us losers

The ref whining and bettman talk is definitely loser talk.

The 4 goals on 15 shots is real talk. Impossible to win with that type of goaltending

That's what I was responding to.

As for the goaltending, totally agree. Skinner is bad AND was left out to dry. Meanwhile, the Knights' goalies - while up to the task - were playing behind a Bruce Cassidy team.

Congrats to Vegas on a well played series. The better team won. When your team completely no-shows for 2 full games in a series it's going to be hard to squeeze out a series win. Goaltending didn't help thr oilers but Skinner is a rookie and this will make him better moving forward. Hopefully Campbell can rebound next season and we can have two solid goalies heading into playoffs.

I think a lot of people underestimate Vegas and how well balanced and well coached they are. I said at the start of this series that BC scared me because I think LA could have beat us if Todd adjusted correctly last series. Vegas has two #1 Ds in their first two pairing and the whitecloud and Hague pairing is solid. They'll have a good shot at winning it this year.

The oilers gave it their all in that third period but couldn't buy a goal. It's a disappointing finish to the season for any longtime fan but I was proud to see they worked their ass off right until the EN.

It'll take a few weeks but I'll eventually get over it. Playoffs are so emotionally draining even as a fan. Can't fathom what all the players go through after getting bounced when they are even a slight favourite.

Congrats to Vegas on easily being the better, harder working team.

I know a lot of the blame is headed to Skinner since he rarely made the big save but the Oilers defence hung him out to dry on multiple occasions. Vegas' D wasn't letting Oiler players behind them for easy goals or second opportunities.

The 3rd goal? Drai got muscled off the puck and lost control of it allowing Vegas to maintain control. Then three Oilers allow two Vegas players to go untouched behind Skinner in the blue paint. That goal is the result of bad team defense.
Yep.

You can want better from Skinner, but it's easy to forget he was never supposed to be the starter of this team. He was a raw rookie with very little experience and he went out and made the All-Star team and is a Calder finalist.

I'm not going to sit here and say he had a good playoffs, but many of Vegas' goals were from 5 feet out and from a guy that was totally unmarked by the defence. Marchessault's first two goals were perfect examples. Cody Ceci was off in lala land for them.

You want to be mad at someone, be mad at Ken Holland for saucing a 5 x 5 contract to a goalie that was so bad in the regular season he was virtually unplayable and he completely lost the trust of the coaching staff.

Put that 2006 Oilers defense on this 2023 version and Edmonton walks to the Finals.

Yes but flip side .. 2 goals in a must win game is a bigger detriment

Oilers strength wasnt goaltending going into this series
Score effect. Vegas could sit back and protect the lead.

Game was over after the 4th goal on the 15th shot of the night.

Edmonton scored enough goals to win this series in 5.

What was the shot count when Vegas took the 4-2 lead?

I generally try to be fair to both sides but yeah. There was never a time I saw RNH with the puck and thought "oh no, what's he going to do?"

He was a total non factor in this series.

Just can't see the tandem staying the same unless Campbell is the starter

I'm not sure which should be discussed more - the lack of respect shown in the post-series handshake line, or Vegas' gf/ga record for 2nd periods this playoffs, indicating Cassidy's incredible ability to adapt.

Who am I kidding? Of course we should discuss the disrespect of the handshake line.
If someone tried to break my arm the week before and expected jocularity in the handshake line a few days later, they'd be sorely disappointed. Draisaitl did what was expected as quickly as possible, nothing wrong with that. If Pietrangelo wanted respect he should have conducted himself respectfully.

Being more upset about an abrupt handshake than an attempt to injure is very strange behaviour. They're not friends and there's still more to come of this. These guys have long memories.
