Ummmm... the 3rd goal? And the 1st goal? Not only did he have one of the ugliest sv%s we have ever seen in the playoffs, several of the goals were weak besides that. Hebwas clearly rattled or tired and Campbell looked sharp every time in relief. Can't believe they kept throwing the shaken rookie out there.
The 3rd goal? Drai got muscled off the puck and lost control of it allowing Vegas to maintain control. Then three Oilers allow two Vegas players to go untouched behind Skinner in the blue paint. That goal is the result of bad team defense.

Nugent Hopkins has to be the biggest 100 point fraud in modern era history.

No battle.
No emotion.
Completely and utterly dominated at five on five two post seasons in a row.

He's a PP leach through and through and can't raise his game when his teammates need him too.

lol if people are expecting RNH to step it up in the playoffs then you only have yourselves to blame. RNH is one of the biggest passengers in the league.

Even worse Draisaitl said that this year was a failure and a waste of a year for them. That's not how winners take defeat. If your top guys are saying experiences are a waste for them then that's huge red flags. What did he expect, that the cup was just going to be handed to them?
I actually disagree completely. That's exactly how winners take defeat.

Anything short of a Cup is a failure for this team and I'm glad Draisaitl said it.

Credit to Vegas, once they stopped trying to injure people and played hockey they were a very good team. I still think they get eliminated once their finishing regresses, but full credit for the win.

Florida and Carolina are DOGS. Vegas comes out of the west easily, IMO.
It won't be that easy. Dallas matches up against Vegas very well and Otter is a brick wall against Vegas. VGK vs SEA would be a compelling watch for those who love high octane games, and that series could seriously go either way.

Such an impressive amount of shit talking from a fanbase of a team that hasn't won a single game past the 2nd round in 17 years.
With all of the crap we have taken from other fanbases over the years, I don't think its most Oiler fans talking shit, so much as we are tired of getting talked to as if our team is shit. Posts like this don't help with that, for what its worth.

The Oilers go as Draisaitl does. If he goes cold, they tend to lose. It's always been that way.

I don't know what they need to get over that hump. Bringing in a more systems based coach? Cutting the games and permanently converting McDavid to a winger role, bringing in a more responsible 2C? Dumping the Nurse contract? Replacing Yamamoto with an actual NHL caliber player, ideally someone with some size, tenacity, and speed?

Vegas is a great team. They were the better team. But I really thought Edmonton would get past them. Guess Vegas was just way too deep for Edmonton to handle.

Props to Eichel. He's shutting a lot of people up.

In comparison the Oilers lost 10 times this year when scoring 4+. You really shouldn't ever lose when scoring 4+ if you're doing the work on the other end.

Go watch highlights from those games and I guarantee you will see a pattern: Jack Campbell in the vicinity of -3 GSAE. Guy was letting in ultra-softies all regular season.

Oilers defensive play is putrid though, but they get no help from their goalies.

this felt like an out coached situation. Oilers did nothing to adapt except pair Mcdavid and Drai together nothing else changed. Vegas plugged up holes after bad periods and were relentless. However, let's be real: Oilers with above average to elite goaltending would be advancing with ease.

I always hated that excuse of goaltending... they are just like any player.

The Oilers are just not a well coached team. Aside from the ridiculous pulling and re-inserting of Skinner, look at their season. Over reliance on the PP, star players with extremely high point totals but comically low +/-. Leon 128 pts but only a +7. For me the coach cannot allow this type of complacency and total disregard for team play. He is way out of his depth!

There can be bad defense and still be a bad goal. The fact draisaitl screws up doesn't mean skinner gets a free pass for letting up a ridicuous rebound on a routine save.

Teams make bad defensive plays all the time. People just remember them more when the goalie let's up a goal.

Skinner had the worst goals saved above expected of all playoff goalies except vitek vanecek, who when he got benched was vastly outperformed by his backup.

Loser talk at it's finest.

The Knights and Oilers currently rank 1st and 2nd, respectively, in penalties drawn. Both teams are first (Oilers) and second (Knights) in penalties taken as well. The Knights stilllll won while, unlike the Oilers, not converting at a crazy rate on the man advantage. At the end of the day, they walked away with four wins.
The ref whining and bettman talk is definitely loser talk.

The 4 goals on 15 shots is real talk. Impossible to win with that type of goaltending

I have no Ill will towards skinner.

He wasn't supposed to be in there
You are right they should have played Campbell but they where going to sink with Skinner as their nr 1 most of the season.Hurting the most is not taking Wallstedt in the draft and now they are going with this tandem years to come.Feels like Koskinen all over again when you thought the goaltending horror was over.

I'm not sure which should be discussed more - the lack of respect shown in the post-series handshake line, or Vegas' gf/ga record for 2nd periods this playoffs, indicating Cassidy's incredible ability to adapt.

Who am I kidding? Of course we should discuss the disrespect of the handshake line.

McD has got to be thinking about asking for a trade right about now.

He was the best player on the Oilers again but he can’t do it himself, if they have a sieve in net.
The neverending wet dream of HF Users, McDavid asking for a trade.

The whole supporting cast sucked for the Oilers. Kane, RNH, and Hyman looked like they spent it all in the regular season
Kane played pretty well despite not scoring much, clearly not 100% and wouldn't expect him to be after that injury.
