How dare you doubt the HFBoards medical experts! They can diagnose a player remotely like nobody's business.
As Stone’s spleen, I can confirm I am ruptured

Obvious about what? Using the rules to their benefit?

I mean sure it sucks and everyone knows what they are doing but again....if its not against the rules then....too bad

The only way to fix it is to apply the cap to the playoff team also. No team can start game with a team that makes more than the cap. The teams can spend as much as they like but the team that hits the ice must be under the cap.....
Then you ruin the trade deadline.

Someone woke up on the wrong side of the cap circumvention post this morning.

People don’t care so they don’t talk about it, people don’t care and they talk about it. Vs. People who openly complain about it. 1/3 at most is small minority
1/3 = small minority... You can only see such claims on hfboards.

Imagine if 1/3 of the population were murderers... It's ok, thats just a small minority.

No they're not, learn the difference between players who are actually on LTIR and stay on LTIR vs players who are on LTIR and magically activated for the playoffs.

Don't hate the player, hate the game. The Leafs could do what Vegas have done, but they haven't and as a result they don't have the same roster. That doesn't guarantee success, but it clearly helps.

Excess should count against next year cap, you play a 7 million over come playoff time,
ok next season your cap is 7 less, deal with it.

You either bench some element, or pay the price next year

Several replies are saying that Stone either isn’t injured at all or will be 100% healthy in game 1, even though he stunk up game 1 last year and was seen on video limping in practice the next day. Are we supposed to believe he was faking it?

Not really, teams will still have injuries and roster spots to fill. Teams will still want to replace under performing players. Teams will have better seasons than they expected and want to add for the playoffs and teams will have worse seasons than they expected and want to sell.....

even if none of that remains true it would be worth it to have a fair system.

Non one can know that one way or the other. Only he and the medical staff can know the truth. As of right now there is no reason at all to suspect he or the team is lying or faking anything at all....

The difference being Leafs players are legitimately hurt and potentially have career ending injuries like Muzzin. They aren't randomly getting back legitimate super stars to add to their playoff roster.
Vegas players are hurt. Lol. Unless u think NHL is that much of a gimmick league where they can fake injury reports to the league.

My problem is how obvious they’re being about it.

I don’t doubt Stone has a lacerated spleen. However, there’s enough literature out there that will tell you a Grade 1 lacerated spleen has a recovery time of a couple weeks. A Grade 3 lacerated spleen would keep him out until next season. How can one tell which one Stone has? A simple CT scan would clear it up and give the team a timeline. But as long as they don’t do the CT scan, they can claim it’s “impossible to tell” and set his recovery to whenever they want.

Add in the fact that he’s hitting LTIR at the same time every year, and is coincidentally recovering shortly after his team no longer needs to be cap compliant, and it’s all very shady shit.

It should have been addressed when Tampa Bay pulled it off, simply because of the unfair advantage it gives.
He gets Injured every year he plays. He gets Injured because of how he plays the game. 16 teams using ltir. 9 in the playoffs. 2 of the 9 are spending more than Vegas. Seriously to say your not being bias is just as "plain to see" as your hypothetical theory of "Stone faking a lacerated spleen".

I probably mistyped, I'm not necessarily claiming that the injuries are fake or anything. In the end though Vegas will be massively over the cap during playoffs and Toronto wont, they are different scenarios in that sense.

I guess you missed where I said I don’t doubt that he has a lacerated spleen. What I am doubting is the mysterious timeline of his possible return, since any doctor worth their salt can give you a general recovery time based on how severe the laceration is, which should have been determined by now.

Fwiw Stone missed 84 games the last 2 seasons and counting this year will miss over 100 games in 3 years. No way is the team captain missing over 100 games in 3 years convenient, especially with the possibility that the team could miss the playoffs in 2 out of those 3 years.

And yeah I’m not buying that this team is suddenly a powerhouse after struggling for months. This team has been getting injuries all season. Hertl fits in well; a really good player that is hurt right now and can’t play.

I’m not going to assume that suddenly players will be healthy the rest of the year, and that the team will start winning. There are some games against Seattle and Calgary coming up soon. We’ll see how they do.

How many playoff games has he missed?
He missed all of them in 2022.

Not sure why it’s so hard to understand that guys will play with injuries in the playoffs. His previous coach mentioned that Stone hurt his back against Montreal in the conference finals. He had a horrible series and still played. But according to some people if you play it means you are 100%.
