It's going to be tough for this fanbase to face the fact that the team is just not that good anymore. It's been a long time that the team has been among the best in hockey. It will be quite the transition for us all.

I agree. Most of us don't want to accept it but we're totally on the decline. Players and coaches have gone as far as they can together. It was a great run.

I know this is hardly revolutionary, but the Canucks' mental weakness continues to be frustrating. When something goes wrong, you just know it's over.

If they were the ones who had surrendered a goal 6 seconds in, they'd be done. Detroit just ignored it and played a great game.

We haven't been an elite team for some time now. Our offense has completely dried up and so has the PP with it.

The sad truth is, we are. This team is playing woefully below their talent level. Even without Kesler, a coach should be able to utilize his assets better when what you have just happens to be two PPG players, a fantastic defense core and strong goaltending. If Maclean were here, we might be challenging Chicago right now.

that's what pisses me off. its not like we are CBJ and don't have elite talent. We have Edler Garrison who have some of the hardest shots in the NHL. you have the ****ing Sedins and you can't pull this **** together? That's just bad coaching.

Exactly. AV has no idea how to use his assets. We acquired Garrison both to shore up defense and offense from the back end, yet he is never used on the powerplay. Did AV miss the slapshot goal Garrison got not two games ago?

There are teams with much worse rosters doing more. AV is getting paid a lot of money to be a positive contributor and right now he's not even an average one. If there's anyone not living up to their contract, it's him.

Ottawa, for example, is icing an AHL team and doing really well.

Like who? Of course I agree AV is a goof, but I have also been vocal about how Gillis has put this team in a terrible position.

This may or may not be true, but even if we assume that it is, I would hope management tries something big to jump start this team, we need new life

Ottawa. Montreal. Phoenix. Carolina. New Jersey. Even the damn Wild.

Ottawa is missing #1D, #1G and #1C and are ahead of us in the standings. Half their team is AHL guys right now who aren't even good AHL players.

If the team falters over the next week I Gillis might have to look at being a seller. I really don't know if the issues this team has are fixable this year.

Ottawa is a good example, but every other team you mentioned has at least as much talent as we do sub Kesler. Maybe not Phoenix either.
