I would sell my soul for a player like Alex Tuch. That type of player is who you win with. A poor man’s Virtanen

You get a big physical winger to replace Brock,

And get a competent top 4 dman to replace Myers,

And imo that team is already in the playoffs.

as nice as that would be the Canucks are further away than that. We need a much better bottom 6 and we need a legit D man for Hughes, I love Schenn!! and I hope he's here for next season too, but if we're going to the playoffs you need him on the 3rd pairing and a similar but better version of him for Hughes. Canucks are too slow, soft and need better team defensive play.

Good point
Our playoff chance is like 8-9%, but our chance of finishing bottom 10 is probably even lower at this point.
That’s the payback you get for playing .700 hockey under BB.

To counter that point, this team has had so much losing and acceptance of losing that playing meaningful, if futile, games is better for the young player’s development than a slim chance of moving up in the lottery.

Hung in. Got a point. But OT play again comes up subpar.

Good

Miller - can make a case that he is the most valuable player to his team in the League. Question is how long can he carry everyone else. Honestly can't think of any player who has better season than Miller for this team. Guess H. Sedin might be considered but he had his brother. Miller's effort is huge highlight in the history of the team.

Horvat - despite some freakishly errant passes he is gaining consistency in his play. Covid has wreaked with the Canucks and certainly didn't spare Horvat. Looks like he is overcoming the effects of the quarantine.

Garland - needs some puck luck. Doing everything but score. Probably should have started the OT instead of Pettersson as him and Miller have been working well together. HIs ability to retain the puck is light years better than Pettersson atm.

Podkolzin - terrific effort. I'd put him with Miller and Garland. Crucial in allowing the Petan line to have good game

Bad

Boeser - only time he appeared to hustle was when there was chance to score. Was very poor in his end often leaving the d-men with no option to move the puck. There were times when he needed to help along the boards but he just sat waiting for the puck to somehow slip out to him. Did none of the heavy lifting in any zone in this game

Others

Dermott - had a couple of very weak shifts and overall hasn't shown much of anything. Plays like this and it's doubtful he's worth a third. Really hasn't shown much better than Burroughs

Demko - gave out far too many rebounds and still not back to the form of earlier in the year. However, did get better as the game went on.

Hunt - another decent game. Showing lately suggest he maybe NHL caliber.

Lammikko - without Motte his play is starting to slip. HIs line had a good thing going and Lammikko is going to have to discover some chemistry with Richardson

Richardson - skating was mediocre and down on the ice too much.

Myers - up and down throughout the game. Had some very difficult shifts but did fight hard on others and was effective. OEL and Myers are taking on a lot pressure and mainly surviving.

Pettersson - first period was great but then he began to get bogged down in traffic. Needs to find ways of not getting tied up in plays so much but rather read the play and look for quick strike opportunities like Kaprisov . Passing on the PP needs lots of improvement.

Petan - far and away his best game for the Canucks. Even looked dangerous at times.

Team did well considering the opposition in the last couple of games but at this point very hard to make up ground. You wonder where the team would be if they had got off to even a half decent start. However, getting anywhere in this League after a poor start is almost impossible.

A gutsy effort against a heavy Minnesota team on the tail end of a back-to-back.....but got no help on the out-of-town scoreboard. Although the Jets lost, the team they really have to try to reel in, Dallas, picked up an OT win in Carolina.

Season probably coming down to Saturday's game in Dallas....it's either a win in regulation, or forget about it.

A couple of random observations....it's obvious Myers is at the point in his career where he just can't play back-to-backs....His play really dips. And although Hughes had a strong game, he's rapidly becoming something of a liability in three on three OT. Second time in consecutive OT games where's he's been out of position and caught up ice.

My gawd does this team need some bigger wingers.......seems to me they consistently lose 60-70 percent of the board battles, particularly in the d-zone.

Can't complain about the point given the Canucks arrived in Minnesota at 3 something a.m. in a back to back game. Too bad Vegas and Edmonton won.

That was the worst game Ive ever seen Myers play...

Demko has been bad lately, always allowing the 1st shot in.

EP needs to be nowhere near the PP or OT, just skates into trouble, refuses to shoot, falls down for the turnover.
