I don't even know why I'm chiming in.Even at the time when former manager Gillis signed the contract it was universally panned as a completely silly thing in the hockey world. Shocking it turned out to be that way.
Good for Luongo but a completely foolish management decision.
It was a perfectly legal contract when signed that all the top teams were doing at the time.
The only reason it didn't work for the Canucks is Luongo's decision to outright retire instead of LTIRetirelike every other player, which he would been 100% in the right to do so. Nothing to do with management who signed it.
