Boudreau the new HC? They are doomed.
Once again, overreaction without even seeing the team play their first game under Boudreau. What happens if they make the playoffs with Boudreau? Will you be saying the same thing? As far as I know, having no coach was better than having Green to continue coaching til the end of the season. Bruce is just icing on the cake for Canucks fans. We also don't trust the incompetent coaching assistants and staff Benning hired so it was best to hire a coach from outside of the organization. Heck I don't even trust the custodians that Benning hired, nevermind the coaching staff.

Didn't Budro coach the Caps back then? I wonder why he's always coached good regular season teams but sucked in the playoffs?

That was one of the best Press Conferences I have ever heard in over 30 years of watching hockey.
He really makes you believe.
Somebody in the Canucks board said it best "I already wanna go through a wall for him"
Amen
When he was coaching the Wild I always considered Boudreau press conferences to be must see tv. I think Evason is probably as good a coach as Boudreau, but I miss Boudreau's press conferences.

One thing that hasn’t been talked about is how rare a gm and coach are canned in the same day. I can’t recall a situation like that. Anyone ?

Funny how three teams pulled the trigger simultaneously. I’m sure it’s just a total coincidence that none of these three organizations will have to face a full media shitstorm.

Yeah i was wondering the same myself. I thought "hmm maybe Vancouver likes Bergevin" ... and then the rumors started

That is a weird move, isnt it? I mean.. If a new GM starts, he wants his own guy behind the bench, no?
Bruce has 1 year +1 optional year. He is a short term solution. He makes 2m for the first year. It is clear he was brought to try and salvage the season. When a new president/GM is hired, he can keep him for 1 year, fire or extend him.

Seems weird that they would hire a non-interim HC without first hiring a GM
A GM search can take quite some time. In the mean time, they want to give the team a chance to turn things around. Bruce is a quality coach that can help do that. When the new GM is hired, he will get the chance to make his own decision on the coaching situation in the offseason. If he agrees that Bruce is his guy, he'll continue with him... if not, a new coach will be hired in the offseason.

If you think the current staff doesn't have anyone with a chance to right the ship, hiring Bruce is ABSOLUTELY the right choice.
