Funny how three teams pulled the trigger simultaneously. I’m sure it’s just a total coincidence that none of these three organizations will have to face a full media shitstorm.

No idea what the fascination is with Green, the media is saying he will be highly sought after but like what exactly has he proven?

As another poster mentioned above, his style is boring and it sucks, Boudreau is basically guaranteed to get more out of this roster
He's a good coach for young players or on a team at the start of a rebuild.
He's also young enough himself that he has time to study the game and adjust his own coaching style.
Consider a coach like Eakins with lots of AHL success now finally finding NHL success in Anaheim; I predict Green will dip into the AHL again and potentially find another gig again for an American team.

He like, hardly coaches. Watching him vs a Daryl Sutter is night and day. Sutter actually has his guys play some coherent form of hockey

A change had to be done in Vancouver for a long time ... but Bruce Boudreau ?
By this time next year we'll be talking about another coaching change in Vancouver.

Not a huge fan of Boudreau's coaching generally but he's had a lot of success and seems like a good fit here in this situation. Going from Green to Boudreau should represent a big boost in the coaching level, for sure.

He is at least worth a long look. In his 12 full years he made the playoffs 10 times with 8 division championships. His job will be to change the culture in Van and get them to the playoffs. Probably as good a bet as any to do that. Regardless of anything, he will be lightyears better than Travis Green.

First off, Bruce is the best available right now. Look all the teams firing their coaches now like Flyers today and soon to come Ottawa and maybe NYI. Who would you rather have? AV? Tocchet? Therien? Julien? Babcock and Queenville probably won't get an NHL job anytime soon. That leaves Boudreau as the best option and we all know Canucks will not go back to hiring another newbie AHL coach with failed experiments in Willie D and Green.

Secondly, Boudreau is here as more of a temporary coach and will be evaluated by the new GM, which is why he only got a 1.5 year contract vs. Standard 3 year contract.

Lastly, The Canucks HAD TO DO SOMETHING because the players were getting complacent and losing culture was taking complete control. This makes the team motivated and a new system and a new coach is exactly what canucks need

Well, if you look historically at when a coach usually gets fired, its usually around this time. The magic mark is 20-25 games into the season when coaches of last place teams get the boot. Because its enough time to evaluate the coach and also maybe the turning point of a team's season because after 25 games, it will become the point of no return where a team has close to 0% chance of making the playoffs. One example is how Blues turned the team around during Christmas time and after January, made the playoffs and eventually won a cup. Now that is still a low percentage of happening with these three teams but their chances of making playoffs is much better than if they had waited for game 30 or game 35 to fire the coach.

I mean, he's 67 years old.

Depends on your lifestyle.

Seems weird that they would hire a non-interim HC without first hiring a GM
Its not interim but more a temporary placement and Aquaman is doing it as a last ditch effort to still make the playoffs and salvage the season even if its a low percentage chance of it happening. Plus he is the best coach currently available and Canucks had to act fast before teams like Flyers come and scoop him. Am glad the Canucks did get him first. Just look at Flyers who have Yeo as interim. I bet you my bottom dollar that if Canucks didnt get Bruce, Flyers had him number 1 on the list of coaches to hire. Now if NYI did decide to fire Trotz, there will be a lot of suitors lining up to get him but I doubt NYI fires Trotz. He still has a long leash and buddies with Lou and he still has a lot of recent success to be let go this early.

Nice that you still can get a job in the NHL even when you call your players Frogs.
Well, Petersson has been playing like a frog this season, so I don't mind Bruce calling him that just to get him to wake up.

if you were in the stadium, and heard your paying customers calling for the head of your GM and for you to sell the team. you'd be pressured to fast forward your plans.... moreover its long overdue, fans had been ultra patient already. I dont forsee any GM coming in having a problem inheriting a jovial coach with a track record of regular season success on a short term contract. This is a low risk maneuvre.
