It's this shit I can't take seriously. The same people saying the Wings need difference makers fawning over Zegras...
Zegras would slot in as the Wings’ 2C and develop behind Larkin into an offensive 1C. Yzermsn needs to find elite guys in key positions. He needs a 1C which could be Zegras. He needs a 1D too, and maybe that’s ASP? But the point is he needs to find those players or the rebuild will stall at the mushy middle. Never being good enough to win much but not bad enough to draft high.

Zegras isn't even playing center let alone one with 1C potential. Yzerman has two 1D and another on the way. The rebuild is fine, dude. Rash moves to speed up a process that cannot be sped up is a recipe for disaster.

Yzerman hasn't done great as a GM (so far). Why not get in shape and insert himself back into the line-up? He could just appear on the power-play. Dude had some hands.

It's pretty normal now in the cap era for a team to miss the play-offs for 8 to 10 years. I can list a bunch of teams where that's the case, with still teams that have yet to go through a full rebuild in the cap era.

The cap really makes it difficult to do a rebuild so I would like to see the league provide some relief to teams who are taking forever to rebuild. It's very unhealthy for the league to have teams like Buffalo and Detroit spending a decade or more wasting away.

I believe the solution here is to add more teams to the league.

Proof is in the pudding. Wings are falling back again in their hope for the playoffs. At some point a rebuild needs to take a leap forward and that leap is dictated by the team’s top players. Yzerman had those guys in Tampa. He’s doesn’t even have one guy of that elite level in Detroit. Not too sure where he finds them. And as more of these younger guys come into their big dollar contracts, if the club continues to struggle they might need to give up on this rebuild and try again. All my opinion of course and could be totally wrong.

Proof is in the pudding, and every single bottom five Atlantic Division team are competing with one another to suck harder. Ottawa, MTL, Sabres, Boston and DRWs are proving to equally suck BAD. The only difference between those 5 teams is Boston has a proven history record.

OTT is so bad they just drafted 7th overall last draft, and they look to be hoving around the same next draft. Talk about true FAILURES!!!! And what's worse about OTT is they don't even have a deep prospect pool to help them; ranked 30th worse on dailyfaceoff, 25th on Bleacher, and 31st worse on Hockey Writers. That's smelly poo. poo. ass.

Say what you want about Larkin, he is roughly in the same spectre as Eichel, a little worse. Overall both have around 4 seasons of point per game. I'm critical of Larkin's progress, but he's good. However Seider is elite and has all the numbers to show for it, except more point production.
Maybe lower end elite now, but he is still improving. He will be among the top d-men in this league. Number wise he already getting the heavy loads league wide.
Larkin is a good player but not on the same tier as Eichel. One is the type of talent that can be the leading scorer in playoffs and the other a good complimentary piece on a cup winner.

Wings need elite talent to carry them to a win and Larkin is not it. Raymond is not it either.
