we did miss the playoffs with them when we lost to the JacketsYeah we missed the play offs a ton with those players and Dubas. You are right...
They may already have the goaltender, so I would concentrate on the D. If Mitch can waive his no move and they can get a proven star, great. The best and realistic thing is to be patient, use the cap space they’ll get from Brodie, Domi, Bertuzzi, Klingberg etc wisely and ride it out until Tavares is off the books.I think we are seeing you cannot win without goaltending and D.
Wow. That isn’t pretty. And what’s all the more infuriating is that it’s not like this lack of offence is due to any kind of defensive commitment. They hemorrhaging chances in their own end.Our depth scoring seriously sucks.
Tavares - 1 goal is last 11 games
Domi - 1 goal in last 14 games
Bert - 1 goal in last 25 games - how can this be possible?
Krok - 2 goals in last 14 games
Knies - 2 goals in last 22 games
Kampf - 1 goal in last 19 games
Gregor - 1 goal in last 19 games
McMann - 2 goals in 22 games
Holmberg - 2 goals in 18 games
Robbie - 6 goals in 26 games - Rocket winner compared against the rest
But if we go 7-0 and Bruins go 0-6, we will pass them.
Now the question becomes, is Treliving the right person to do that?In September my thought was it would take two years to put the complete puzzle together.
We didn't miss the playoffs any year under Dubas.we did miss the playoffs with them when we lost to the Jackets
Dubas isn't dead , he's just killing another team
It may be the end of them being competitiveDoes this mark the end of the They-Play-Up-To-Their-Competition era?
So half the cap were okay and the rest of the team sucked, I wonder why that is, any ideas……..what’s there to say? The core played alright last night by their standards. The rest of this team is just a flaming pile of garbage.
No D, no goaltending, thin forward depth = horrible team.
Team is just bad.
Re-signing the guys they let go wasn’t an option. We knew the PK was going to be different and I think it was a good move to experiment with a few guys. One major decline is the teams PK. Last year it was Holl, Brodie, Marner, Kampf, Kerfoot, Gio as some of our most used bodies.
We were 12th in the league. This year we are 27th.
Brodie, Gio and Kampf have all declined.
Holl was an excellent PK guy and he’s missed on the PK, if nowhere else. Kerfoot was also very good on the PK. Engvall was good too.
We lost some pretty good defensive players, brought in some weak defensive players, and had a number of players decline.
There is obviously more to our play than the PK, but it is one of the problems.
See above…..I’m not confident he’s the right person to do it.Now the question becomes, is Treliving the right person to do that?
So half the cap were okay and the rest of the team sucked, I wonder why that is, any ideas……..
Don’t forget all the one and done in the playoffs, as well as trading away draft picks for rentals. However, I find it interesting that when Dubas finally suggested maybe trading one of the core, that Shanahan fired him (yes I know the increase he wanted in salary also played a part, but maybe not as big as Shanny made it out to be). To me, it’s been Shanahan’s fault all along!Good job we got rid of the GM that gave us guaranteed play offs and 100 point seasons.
Good job by all involved![]()
They made the playin, and those covid seasons were kind of fake because that one year the Canadiens had one of the worst records in the league, but because of the covid rules somehow made the playoffs and even went to the finals. The Leafs never missed the playoffs under Dubas.we did miss the playoffs with them when we lost to the Jackets
Dubas isn't dead , he's just killing another team , so you and the rest of his supporters should head on over to the Pens board to tell them what kind of genius he is for making the playoffs 4 out 5 years he was here with a team that he inherited that consisted Mathews/Marner/Nylander/Rielly/Adersen/Kadri , tons of cap space and a full compliment of picks !
But that’s why Keefe might need to shake things up, try to find different combinations that click. And this would need to be tried for longer than a few shifts, or one period, or one game. What do they have to lose with how things have gone so far?Bertuzzi - 1 goal in last 25
Kampf - 1 goal in last 19
Gregor - 1 goal in last 19
Knies - 1 goal in last 16
Domi - 1 goal in last 14
Tavares - 1 goal in last 11
They need a new coach to shake things up.But that’s why Keefe might need to shake things up, try to find different combinations that click. And this would need to be tried for longer than a few shifts, or one period, or one game. What do they have to lose with how things have gone so far?
And you just know it’ll be groundhog day when 16 is up to bat…….Can’t wait for the 6.5 million dollar increase in cap hits due to Matthews and Nylander’s new contracts to kick in. Should make our lives a lot easier imo
Dude the Pens board is that way. This team would have sucked the same ass it does today if idiot Shanny followed through and extended Dubas. But keep preaching the Dubas gospel. We didn't miss the playoffs any year under Dubas.
And he's currently in charge of another team that is currently doing better than last year, despite everybody predicting continued significant decline.
Had such high hopes for Bertuzzi, seriously disappointing.Bertuzzi - 1 goal in last 25
Kampf - 1 goal in last 19
Gregor - 1 goal in last 19
Knies - 1 goal in last 16
Domi - 1 goal in last 14
Tavares - 1 goal in last 11
I would absolutely love to get rid of Domi but until thenShuffling deckchairs on the Titanic……….
No single move fixes this, and Domi isn’t anywhere near the most culpable imo………I would absolutely love to get rid of Domi but until then
I'm sure there's a massive closed door meeting about Van Ryn's coaching system todayWhat article did you read recently to start blaming Van Ryn. You are so clueless
Pretty ridiculous that we paid a 1st and a 2nd for a 3rd pairing D.You can *maybe* make a case for McCabe as a top-four, but other than Rielly it is real slim pickings on the blue-line this season.
