Jones’ MO on his last two teams was a hot start only to crash back to earth.

He’s done his job but relying in him as a #1 is foolish.
Jones has provided the upside of his pay scale. Pedigreed back ups come up and half the time they ride a heatwave until the workload catches up - when you're lucky. Campbell did the same thing.

I thought we got not great but honest goaltending from Jones tonight, but he's probably nearing the limits of what he can do.

There was a few breakdowns defensively but I felt that after the first 12 minutes of the game we were the better team. Jones was not good tonight, goaltending and the pk is definitely killing us. If Jones could have had a 900 save percentage tonight we’d win. Goal is definitely are bestest weakness imho and if it doesn’t get fixed playoffs might not happen.

The problem is this defence is very far away from cup caliber, we need to add an actual #2 and a #3. An ekholm/Lindholm and Manson type. So Liljegren being better than this ragtag group of players and Rielly isn’t gonna impress me

He can have all that and yet he can’t and won’t play with Rielly top pair it’s been tried and it never works, he can’t fit there

He still fans on pucks and flubs easy plays which result to goals

I don’t think he’s a top 4 dman on a cup aspiring team, just like I don’t think Tavares isn’t a 2C on a Stanley cup winning team. Liljegren as a #5 could be good, but he’s prone to mistakes at the worst time and cost us big
But this is actually just wrong. In 427 minutes of ice time at 5 on 5 he has been on the ice for only 14 goals against, the lowest total per minute by any defenseman on this team. On a dcore that is all of a sudden bad because Gio and Brodie are aging out, the last thing you should be doing is trading your one young defenseman who is actually good.

Nonsense, Brodie was excellent until about a year ago but somehow Keefe has not noticed his play dropping off steadily since then. Also he's still in denial about Giordano being 40 and unable to handle anything more than occasional 3rd pair duties.

Rielly's also been poor in his own end 4+ regular seasons now so he can take some of the blame too.
Keefe didn't notice Holl going from passable to complete dog shit, either, so this is a recurring theme. As is shoving the same players into the same situations and being stunned they're getting the same results.

Bertuzzi’s failure to have a good season doesn’t reflect well on the stars whose coattails he’s supposed to ride either.
Well... Except for the part where Bert isn't actually playing with any of those stars, but is instead tethered to a rapidly declining John Tavares....

This team is starting to scare me

There's nothing worse than being ok and scraping into the playoffs but not being a true contender and that's what we look like right now

We're getting by on some extremely talented guys carrying a very defective roster over the finishing line and that's not going to cut it against the better teams

The goaltender has to give us a chance, Jones is starting to show signs of falling back to earth
The defense can't be this porous and half the time Keefe doesn't seem to trust most of them and we need the depth to start chipping in and Scoring

All in all a scary time to be a Leafs fan
Keefe is an idiot, playing the wrong lines at the wrong time ' like 2 minutes left jncthe game and you put your worst productive 4th line out on the ice, wtfd' not referring to tonight, just an example of how pucking clueless this dipshit is....

Sir, please step out of the car and relinquish the alcohol.
I'd be happy to drown my sorrows with you, good sir, lol

Also can we PLEASE play Robertson again? No way he is worse than some of the bums polluting our bottom 6.
He’s better than some of the bums in our top 6

Is Bert not playing with the teams leading scorer?

Our forwards are very good. Our everything else is not.

This is definitely the worst Leafs team in years. We need a new coach, and improvements on D, but can’t say I trust Tre with either of those things.
This team is not even close to being a serious Cup contender. Terrible management decisions in terms of overpaying our “star” players, consistently trading picks for rentals, not firing Keefe when coaches like Cassidy were available, PK and PP not coming through when the chips are down, I could go on and on. Hopefully we make very few, and minor, changes this season and then do the necessary major changes in the offseason. Trading Bertuzzi and Domi at the deadline unfortunately will not happen. But Shanahan and the board will probably still believe they’re right there and will “go for it” yet again.

What kills me is teams that were total crap 2-3 years ago have surpassed the leafs and so many people including management refuse to do anything about it and in fact are locking us into more years of it. Everyone is so paralyzed by the fear of moving on from some of the core that is killing our chances that it dam near to late.
I know it sounds like a simplistic question but if other teams can become better without any of those 4 why are we so afraid to change a couple of them

Coincidentally that's when wifey and I quit watching the game and turned on Killers of the Flower Moon. It was a nice feeling not wasting 3 hours of my life watching mediocrity for a change.

How was the movie? Decaprio is kinda turning me away from the movie, he has the same effect on me as Marchand.

Last night when the Canucks gave up their 3 goal lead their captain was smashing his stick and freaking out on the bench. I can only guess it’s because he hates to lose.
Our guys upon losing just sit their like bumps on a log looking like I can only guess they can hardly wait to get back to their hotels
We’ve been told Leaf players are childish when they bang their sticks.

As an outsider, I'd like to know why your coach doesn't try to run these lines or something similar for a game or two:

Nylander Matthews Marner
Bertuzzi Tavares Domi
Knies Jarnkrok Holmberg
Robertson Kampf Gregor

Had the night to sleep on this and I realized, do you expect any other result than what we got last night?

A group of players who have NO clue where to go without the puck and as a result we get roasted by the best offensive team in the league. Think about the last two Canucks goals. You got a Canuck next to our goal waiting for a tip, a Leaf Dman in the slot guarding who? Who is taking that Canucks stick away? Who is making him work for his ice? The players look like they are trying to do too much and not enough all at the same time, it looks like its hard for them to play, it is the job of the coach to establish a system that allows the players do what they do best. I have to think that Tre is waiting for "his guy" to come avail, there is no way you can look at this team objectively, not just the last month but the entire season and say, yep they are headed in the correct direction. This team is playing like a team that is expecting to see their coach fired.

Then you think about todays game against the Kraken... Leaf fans are hoping that we can win against the 23rd place team, should a fan base of a Cup contender have that mind set. Hoping for a win against a 23rd place team?

So the cherry picking, the selfish play, the blind spots, the personal stats queens, the soft play, the unaccountability... enjoy this soft lazy easy cheesy time because it will be coming to an end if the coach who I think is coming is our next coach

It’s what happens when most of the money is spent on forwards and not evenly distributed between the F, D, and G……..

Perhaps you can explain what he's doing wrong?

Or is this just to divert attention from anyone who was affiliated with the prior GM?
Every game there’s a new scapegoat with this guy……..

Wow, Vancouver is a dirty ass team.

And of course, the refs were braindead and lost control of the game.

Hope Woll is back soon, because Jones... uh... his little run seems to have ended.
Excuse generator………

What article did you read recently to start blaming Van Ryn. You are so clueless
At least there was no quote from some obscure idiot on twitter, those were the worst take’s I’ve read on this board……..
