id say he left 150k-400k per year on the table. he could get more than $12m but i'd say that $12m is the upper limit of fair.

Value is based on what someone is willing to pay, not what is deemed fair. So if you think someone would have paid more than $12M, then you also think he left more than $150K to $400K on the table.
