It's a fair deal but it's also perceived as a discount because Nylander set the market. I kinda expected 12m point blank.

If they buyout or manage to trade Mikheyev—they have the budget to re-sign their key free agents (Hronek, Blueger, Joshua) *and* acquire + extend another impact player this deadline.

Makes me wonder about a Guentzel trade.

The media left him alone. He was asked about his contract at the start of the year and not again. What's discussed on the radio/twitter etc well if he chooses to listen that's on him.

The push to get it done with rfa time left was to prevent him from taking his QO in the off season and walking to free agency.

But that’s still something that doesn’t need to happen until the summer. The only other way I can see it if Pettersson wasn’t going to commit right now, that Rutherford would rather go into these playoffs with the people who will be there later, and if it was at the expense of this season’s fate then that’s what it meant. That’s a very dangerous game to play with your other core players.
