We're buying high, very high.

If this year's play was his regular play it would be a fine deal.

Hronek is a good player but I feel like this is one of those cases where if you don't get the price you want you walk away. Canucks didn't walk away.

He certainly doesn't sound like a fit for Hughes from how Detroit fans describe him. A puck-mover with suspect defensive ability?
He's scarcely more than a PP specialist. Half his points are in PP or 6v5 situations!

Hronek is not getting that usage here. I'd say it's bewildering, but doing things that make no sense is the norm for this org.

This isn't about the Playoffs this year or next year, that's an overreaction. Obviously management feels that Hronek can be a prime contributor on the blueline when the Canucks are competitive, whenever that is. They also obviously feel that he'll improve and excel in the system they are looking to implement and he fills a massive organizational need on top of it.

It definitely is a weird time for this deal though.

this is a huge bet on hronek, and the one that'll define their entire tenure.

pretty sure i'm gonna be annoyed about the NYI 1st round pick more than the 9th overall we lost in the OEL trade

Ao we sold our future for a rental player so we could take a run at ……. Not tanking for our remaining 1st round pick?

This franchise can’t help itself from being pathetic

This whole organization must have a rare medical condition where the presence of extra draft picks will cause anaphylactic reaction AND immediate explosive diarrhea.

It's either that, or the whole management regime is run by JEB clones.

Pick one.

What was it Benning said about having fewer picks focusing the scouts better. Lol.

And, to be clear, this is absolutely the case.

If he can be the Toews to Hughes' Makar and be a pairing that tilts the ice for 25 minutes/game, this will be a win regardless of the price.

This is a really fascinating trade.
That is an interesting opinion. Very well could be

Steep price though. Hope the pro scouts have this dialed in

I truly believed in this management, I did, i fall for this shit every year.
I love you guys, But hate being addicted as a canucks fan
I tried to warn my fellow Canuck bros who thought the Horvat trade signaled a rebuild. The plan is and will always be to make the playoffs asap.

So best case scenario: Hronek has the best season of his career next year, and the Canucks have to resign him for $8 million+? How on earth does this fit with the Canucks timeline...if they even have a timeline besides "try to make the playoffs next season".
Best case scenario is the Canucks extend him this summer while his price is reasonable and he turns out to be a good partner for Q. Hughes.

Luckily they only have to sign petey then too. But the cap should be at 120m

Wings fans are saying they sold high. Allvin took the bait.

Hronek was pumped with PP time. He only "looks good" at face value because half his points are on the man-advantage. He's not getting that usage in Vancouver.

I'm gonna go ahead and take a puff of copium that we can recoup the 1st in a Boeser/Miller deal. But I don't think either of them are moving.

I'm starting to worry about the prospect of losing our 1st or future picks/prospects to go all in for next season.
