Kopitar said his legs were tired already, not even kidding.

Kopitar "Penalties in the second are due to turn overs and tired legs, me included".

What ? your kidding me right ? I am probably taking it out of context, he probably means at the end of a shift, but holy cow.

I bet Brown didn't have tired legs. He worked in the off season.

There's many ways this season can go, especially after 3 games, but trading Kopitar isn't the answer. Trading your 28 year old elite first line center, who likely wants to be here, for a rental package in response to recent turmoil that does not indicate a need for a rebuild is crazy. Also, Futa and Dean are very similar minded. If you were looking to change the direction of the organization, swapping Dean for Futa wouldn't accomplish much in that department.

While this is true, Futa and Blake aren't as mentally wrecked as Dean is. Lombardi has taken the entire year of mistakes by players personally and maybe it's clouding his own judgement in running the team.

Greenest minutes froze at around 8 half way through? Did he get hurt again?

Sutter: "If there is no sense of urgency in the top guys, they won't be productive".

What the hell? After a disappointing season last year, I don't get why there is no jump in the top guys. Could it be because of the Voynov/Richards problem or losing a big leader like Williams? Just really confused with this team.

Guess being a dad for a newborn is really wearing on him.

i think the shore goal was a tip on an erhoff shot. he's great in the face-off zone, but i was kind of hoping that with pearson tonight that line would break out. instead it was kinda invisible for the most part. not doing anything super bad but nothing super good either.

of course that may just make it the best line, ha ha.:laugh:

doughty played 27 mins with no shots!
top guys - boooooo!

I saw him shoot, right into traffic and get it blocked. This was of course, right after he deaked a few times with a fake shot.

If you're trading Kopitar, you're also trading Doughty, Carter, Gaborik, Lucic, Brown and Quick. No point to hang onto any of them.
Kinda agree.

Though disagree about Doughty ('89 born). He still has years in the NHL left.

I think the players are on a strike and want to get rid of Sutter. We dont only lose, its also at home and 2 goals total with a roster like this.

Tonight DID look suspiciously like the Terry Murray pre-can.

He gave them an 8.5 on the worried scale. OD of course just buries his head in the sand , "they fine being 0-3".

I dunno, I think either perspective is pretty valid at this point. It's obviously VERY fair to question the issues that are so obviously there, but it is also still very obviously early, and O'D is pretty good about calling it like he sees it, and has been in and around hockey in a trustworthy manner.

I would keep Doughty and see if he could rise to the occasion. The guy competes.

Quick and Brown's contracts may be untradeable, but I think Quick could be moved.

Quick to St. Louis?

You're missing an important part of the (butchered) quote. He said that when you get stuck in your zone for extended shifts, you end up getting tired legs out on the ice which leads to penalties. This had nothing to do with conditioning nor did Kopitar ever refer to himself as being a part of that group.

Sutter Benched him in the third.

Sutter on Greene playing not much in the third

Sutter: "He was not injured, didn't play, lots of guys didn't play today".

This is my main problem - it's the same **** every year. The Kings missed the playoffs by 1 point last season. Where's the urgency? Where is it? Only three games in my ass. Missing the playoffs by 1 point should be even more motivation to work your ass off every play and want to dominate every shift. I just don't see it outside of a couple players (most of which are making less than a million per). The Kings walked the line in 2012 and 2014 and won. It simply won't happen again as evidenced by last season. They may have been "mathematically in it" during the last few games, but the top players were mentally checked out.

This is not a coaching problem - this is a player problem and it starts with #11. Every year he disappears. He's a microcosm of the entire team. Compete isn't a range - it's on or off. You either show up and play or don't show up at all. Far too many players are simply going through the motions of NHL players. I'm sick of the cookie cutter post-game ********. "We didn't play hard enough." Shut the **** up. Don't even talk if you're gonna say such stupid rhetoric.

I don't believe last season was an anomaly, I believe it was the new norm. There are very difficult yet evident decisions to be made. This core is trending downward and getting older. They also look mentally done. We need a real gut check - this team is very different and is simply a fringe playoff team at best. The defense is patchwork and the offense is what it always is - garbage.

If I was rebuilding this team, I would rebuild the right way - going thermonuclear. I would shop every single player on this roster. Five years from now it would yield a Stanley Cup contender.

One more thing - I think Dean is done. I think the Richards fiasco broke him mentally. I think his fear of not making the correct decision will cause him to step down. I don't think he thinks he can execute at the level he wants to anymore. I wouldn't be shocked if both Dean and Darryl are done after this season (or earlier).

He will probably do that before he mixes in some youth and speed.

Sorry, I'm not going to criticize Sutter. The man has been to the top of the mountain. I don't think he wants to tumble to the bottom of it and try to run back up to the top again. He is the best coach in the franchise's history, bar none.

He has injected youth into the lineup every season, so I don't get where these comments are coming from.

The problem I have with it all is we have no real identity right now--we're not playing good defense, we're sure not playing offense, and we're big, but we're not particularly hard to play against.

Okay well, damn, what RP said!!

This lineup has yet to play Kings hockey at all. So I don't know why people are complaining about Sutter at all.

They haven't even played so called (Sutter hockey). These guys have played with zero structure what so ever, they look like a bunch of rookies out there.

-The Kings attempted 54 shots (15 on goal, 17 blocked, 22 missed). The Canucks attempted 42 shots (26 on goal, 8 blocked, 8 missed). Alec Martinez led all skaters with seven shot attempts (1 on goal, 3 blocked, 3 missed). Radim Vrbata and Daniel Sedin led all skaters with four shots on goal.

even worse, 22 missed!!!

compare that to the canuck's shot stats, 8 missed.

If I’m Darryl, I try:
Gaborik-Kopitar-Brown
70s
Lucic-Weal-Lewis
Clifford-Shore-Nolan

not bad?

1 sog was on the pp, when not a single King or Canuck was even remotely near the net.He shot it right into Millers logo, didn't even wait for traffic to develop. And the 3 missed came on the last shift of the 1st or 2nd period. He , like the rest of the pointmen couldn't shoot to save their lives tonight..:shakehead

btw... Did Kevin Westgarth change his name to Andy Andreoff? What's with the glove drops all the time with this kid? Isn't he supposed to be offensively talented?
