Hmm… what would CBJ, a team with no top six centres want, in exchange for a presumed generational centre talent in Bedard?
From a CBJ fan’s perspective

First - we won’t win the lottery even with finishing last
Second - If we did win the lottery we would wake up form that dream and would realize we were dreaming and we didn’t win the lottery.

For the CBJ to get a true 1C is almost becoming a joke 23 years and counting. So winning the 1OA would be insane for Jarmo & Company to entertain a trade.

Not possible to make the trade in this day and age with the salary cap, and no team would accept half a dozen 1st round picks plus a top player and/or prospect or two.

Bedard has been hyped since he was 10 years old. He broke records at the WJC. He's considered the best prospect since Crosby/McDavid, and has a good chance to end up in that tier.

You might suggest Bedard would force his way off a team or demand to go to his hometown, but he didn't do it in the WHL, and I don't think it's in his personality to do it at the NHL level. Kid is too even-keeled and low key for that.

Like another poster said, the big trade could be pick 2 or 3 (or 4, depending how far Michkov falls).

CLB has had a 1OA (Nash) and in 22 years they have drafted in the top 10 15 times with many top 5 or better.

The best offer the Flyers could make for Lindr… aaah Bedard is.

Ivan Provorov - Steve Duchesne
Carter Hart - Ron Hextall
Scott Laughton - Mike Ricci
Wade Allison - Chris Simon
Nick Seeler - Kerry Huffman
Cutter Gauthier - Peter Forsberg
2023 1st round pick PHI unprotected
2024 1st round pick PHI unprotected
15 million would have to be two more 1st rounders as cash transactions trades no longer exist.
2024 1st round pick FLA
2025 1st round pick PHI top 2 protected

The CBJ traded to get the #1 selecting Rick Nash and my point is still true we have never won the lottery to pick 1OA. This isn’t about how many times they picked in the top 10 but 1OA

I think if Buffalo somehow falls in the standings and wins the lottery I could see them entertaining offers for the 1st overall pick.

If I had the 2023 1st overall, the only way I trade it is if a team with 2nd or 3rd overall offered an unprotected 2024 1st and an elite defense prospect (Jiricek, Hughes, Edvinsson types) to move up. Or for McDavid straight up. In other words, not going to happen.

I do think that pulling off a Lindros trade requires a lot of luck. Like at the time, I doubt anyone would have thought that Forsberg would turn out to be equal to Lindros on top of all the other pieces.
Forsberg exceeded expectations. If he turned into the 70 pt two-way player he was expected to be, not the superstar he became, that trade would have been looked at differently today.

Canucks 1st rnd pick ( probably around 7th overall)
Islanders 1st round pick 2023 ( probably around 13-20overall) or islanders unprotected 2024 1st
Canucks 2024 1st round pick unprotected

Maybe Bedard, demands he wants to play for Van... Would love that!
Why? He will likely sign in Vancouver when he's a 26 year old UFA.

I don't think Buffalo would be eligible to win the lottery...2 1OA in the past 4 years...you can only get 2 lottery wins in 5 years.

Bedard is the closest thing you can ever have to a guaranteed cup or more because Dionne is the only player of his level to ever not win the cup(it does look a lot like McDavid will be joining him and he still made the conference finals with one third of a team). I wouldn't trade him unless the return was so good it'd be impossible not to win with it and that would still just be a maybe. I can only think of one team, maybe two, that has a core I'd trade Bedard for and it would get their GM fired instantly. The idea of trading him for picks and prospects is absolutely insane and trading him for established players does nothing for you but, at best, shrink your competitive window.

With how good he looks. Plus the elc. I don't see anyone being able to make a trade that they're happy with. It'll gut them. Maybe Montreal if they're two firsts end up high. But if high enough I'd take the two picks rathen then trading them ++ to get one guy.

Of course the one guy is a great player. But you'd still be making more holes
