Edmonton won a cup after trading Gretzky. Imagine what EDM could add with 11.5m cap space when they still have Drai as 1c and add a PPG + player on ELC for 3 years.
Who are all these players that are available that Edm coukd just "add"?

Yes Edmonton won a Cup without Gretzky when they already had a dynasty set up and in a completely different NHL environment. No idea how that's relevant to now.

Looking at how the majority of NHL superstars have performed over the last decade in terms of playoff success there is no way that I would trade more than two core players for a pick, even if it was Bedard, and of course not just any core players (no way that I would do a Hughes/Hamilton or Stützle/Sanderson swap for Bedard).

There are so many teams who just went through or are currently going through a rebuild, they know how tough it is to aquire good depth and broad skill.
I do believe that the majority of GMs have smartened up and wouldn't just send it all to waste.

The best offer the Flyers could make for Lindr… aaah Bedard is.

Ivan Provorov - Steve Duchesne
Carter Hart - Ron Hextall
Scott Laughton - Mike Ricci
Wade Allison - Chris Simon
Nick Seeler - Kerry Huffman
Cutter Gauthier - Peter Forsberg
2023 1st round pick PHI unprotected
2024 1st round pick PHI unprotected
15 million would have to be two more 1st rounders as cash transactions trades no longer exist.
2024 1st round pick FLA
2025 1st round pick PHI top 2 protected
Lindros was involved twice in big trades and the team that got him lost the trade both times.

So what?
Our 3OA quits skating mid shift 5 times a game but we still love him.

I guess being 2nd in league scoring helps.
Here is hope you are not trolling. This is our 3OA and him quitting mid-shift

Sens offer a swap of 1st round picks, Stutzle, Tkachuk and Sanderson.

Lmao I wouldn't do it as a Sens fan, not even close, but the value seems about right if I'm the team trading Bedard away. I need a Lindros kind of return that has a chance to kick start a powerhouse team.

Call me crazy, but if we lived in magical unicorn land and Buffalo won the 1st overall, I would probably take this deal. Other pieces would have to envoled for cap purposes but this is a solid start. For amusement purposes only, here's a go at it.

Buffalo receives
Ottawa's first
Stutzle
Tkachuk@7mil
Sanderson
Jacob Bernard-Docker
Matt Murry

Ottawa receives
1st overall (Benard)
Buffalo's 2nd pick
Skinner
Isak Rosen
Ryan Johnson

All conditioned that players with NTC agree of course. And no, I wouldn't expect Ottawa to gut thier team for one player.
