For comparisons sake, just from today:
Jonathan Isaac signed for 4 years, $80M
Derrick White signed for 4 years, $73M
Luke Kennard signed for 4 years, $64M
Markelle Fultz signed for 3 years, $50M
We got OG for 4 years, $72M. He is a much better player than all these guys.
Good to see Watanabe and Watson make the cuts. Pre season rotation was looking curious.
Hopefully they can flip a Matt Thomas, Pat McCaw or Stanley Johnson for a 4-5 that can actually play. Disappointing to see Len so far, and Boucher is clearly a PF against most matchups.
Have to think they’ll be monitoring cuts/transactions and exploring opportunities to swap one of these guards for a front court player.
Because Matt Thomas is hard to watch. He can’t guard anyone and he’s easy for most teams to stop if they’ve done any homework. Watch the difference in how Charlotte guarded him in game 1 vs 2 - in 2 they were in him on the catch or denied the ball altogether. He can’t create for himself off the dribble, isn’t quick or agile enough to create space off the ball, and he’s undersized with well below average athleticism so he isn’t going to rise up and shoot over many guards... and watching Miami’s eyes light up when he entered the game was tough - he’s an easy bucket or free throws almost every time which forces Nurse to go zone. He literally can’t stay in front of anyone. Why would you flip Matt Thomas? He should the first guy off the bench. Im not sure why everyone has a love affair with Terrence Davis. He turns it over too much, forces plays and takes ridiculous shots. Powell would be the guy to move at this point IMO. Len never got much of a chance in preseason, hes always been an interesting player but never seems to put it together. I agree Boucher is still a little thin to matchup against bigger centers, but he has held his own and presents a mismatch on offence.
Masai potentially about to convert a 2016 27th overall pick that the Raptors drafted and developed into 2 years of a top 5 player...best executive in the NBA considering the circumstances he has to deal with.

Davis can shoot 3s in your face and dunk on your head. No doubt he makes bad decisions and tries to do too much at times, but that’s common in a rookie. He had one of the best ts% so while you may not like some of his shot selection, he makes enough of them to keep shooting. Davis’ skills and physical tools offer a lot of upside that they’d love to realize and it just isn’t there with Thomas.
I singled him out because he’s the worst player on the bench but might be attractive to someone for the shooting. If they’re reading stats without watching the game they might think he can play.
Reddick was a McDonalds all American and 5 star recruit. Went to Duke and picked 11th overall. Some consider him a bit of an underachiever considering his hype as a prospect. The book on these two entering the league couldn’t have been more different.pretty sure a lot of people said the same thing about JJ Reddick, who he reminds me of a little bit. I think his athleticism is underrated and he is a good playmaker as well. His defence has gotten miles better from last year. He’s a valuable piece of the bench
KD is back
I still patiently wait for the point where Kyrie does something hilariously self-sabotaging and screws it all up. It happened in Cleveland with him apparently desperately needing to get out of LeBron's shadow. It happened in Boston when things didn't go to plan and he started sulking. I figure it's only a matter of time before it happens to the Nets too. My money is on him having a falling out with the coaching staff after his off-season podcast bit where he basically said that he figures he and KD can/should be "the coaches" sometimes as if he doesn't need to listen to the people in charge.
That or they show themselves to be full of holes as a team when they're not beating up on the broken carcass that used to be the Golden State Warriors.

The Warriors are trash...but if KD is healthy like he appears then the Nets are coming out of the East. There is no player in the East that touches a healthy KD.I still patiently wait for the point where Kyrie does something hilariously self-sabotaging and screws it all up. Kyrie for all his off-court issues is still one of the best 2nd options in the league. Lebron and him not clicking still led to 3 straight finals, 1 chip (2015 is most likely another chip if Kyrie didn't end his season with the knee injury in game 1). It took a 73-9 team adding prime KD to stop him and Lebron.
They made it because of Lebron, he was the engine. They don't win anything without Kyrie though. They made it because LeBron. He was averaging almost a triple double the entire playoffs those years and was running the floor. Kyrie was either hurt or just there to score a few baskets.
