Woof. Fire Nick Nurse?! For experimenting with a new bench a couple of games into a new season?? Yeah, no.

He’s not experimenting at all, though? He’s keeping a tight rotation that includes a non-NBA player while leaving players like Bembry, Davis, Watson and Flynn on the bench. All 4 are much better players with far greater upside, and far better fit the defensive identity that has made this team successful.

The Spurs are a putrid defensive team but they tried to outscore them rather than playing to their strengths. Two games in a row we’ve watched the other coach dictate the game - something Nurse had been so good at. They aren’t winning many games giving up 119 to non playoff teams.

It’s too early to make a move, but Nurse beginning to lay the groundwork for his pink slip.

I don't like the use of Thomas either but it's only two games. Nurse has plenty of time to make adjustments as needed.

I’m hopeful but not optimistic. They’ll need to play small because of roster construction, but the key to small ball is utilizing athletes that can play defense.

Nurse has several of these players on his bench but instead plays Thomas for long stretches where their defense becomes awful and can’t get stops. It’s pretty baffling.

That's the biggest problem so far.

I don't mind Thomas, and don't have a problem with him playing, but I would like to see Davis and Flynn with some minutes. I like when Nurse used his bench a bit more and rode the hot hand. And I do realize the bench isn't as good as last year.

No beef with Thomas, beef with Nurse for playing Thomas too much.

Problem so far has been defense and if you go back and watch the tape, their defense is significantly worse when he’s on the floor. He’s the only player on the roster with that type of negative impact.

Situational player that could be useful at the end of the bench but if he’s playing key minutes in the rotation they’re in a lot more trouble than I thought.

Bembry is a much better player and brings far more to the table. He could be a great asset in Nurse’s defense.

Davis makes bad decisions at times, but he was also a rookie. He has big upside if they can help him figure it out. As far as the bad shots - he had one of the better ts% among all NBA guards as a rookie. His efficiency is what stood out with the mediocre per game numbers so I don’t know how you call him a ‘bad shot machine’ when he was actually the opposite. He can shoot contested jumpers and dunk on your head. If they can get him to play more under control he’ll be a very good player.

What a joke the nba is. You can’t take so long to determine whether or not a shot counts. That was at least five minutes of real time and several possessions before they determined Baynes didn’t release that shot in time. If it’s that close, call an officials timeout and figure it out. Taking 3 points away late in the game can change the entire complexion of the game. Terrible rule.

Nurse made some nice adjustments. He limited Thomas's minutes and played Johnston instead which gave us a boost. Thats why Nick is an elite coach. He makes changes.

He's a great number 3 option on a team IMO.

Still a keeper but we need a star alongside him.
