Well weren’t there reports that kawhi’s camp was trying to get all kinds of free shit for friends. Like jobs and houses. I remember seeing some crazy stuff
Yup, there totally was. I also remember that Kawhi's camp apparently wanted access to the MLSE private jet just whenever.

TBH Kawhi should be heavily hit too. No way he should get out without serious penalties, because players and their agents are as much, if not more, to blame. Especially now that these guys make ridiculous amounts of money as it is.

Hoo boy. This isn't an ordinary tampering charge, there's apparently some real under the table shit apparently involving Kawhi's camp and the Clippers. Cap circumvention is a totally separate ballgame and a massive no-no - back in 2000, the Wolves got nailed for it and had to cough up 5 1st round picks after they had an under the table deal with Joe Smith. The Stepien rule doesn't exactly apply to punishments, so they can probably pillage the Clippers from 2027 onwards. They might not have a 1st for a decade lol.

There must have been something under the table, because I don't think there is anything "illegal" about someone signing a bunch of cheap deals with a team. If the player wants to take that risk, they should be allowed, but they obviously can't be receiving more under the table to make up for it.

If it was just a promise of "we can't pay you much now but we will give you much more later", and the player is okay with that, then that should be fine as long as there is nothing under the table.

1,500 fans in attendance tonight apparently. Will they be cheering for the visiting team tho

Good to see Watanabe and Watson make the cuts. Pre season rotation was looking curious.

Hopefully they can flip a Matt Thomas, Pat McCaw or Stanley Johnson for a 4-5 that can actually play. Disappointing to see Len so far, and Boucher is clearly a PF against most matchups.

Have to think they’ll be monitoring cuts/transactions and exploring opportunities to swap one of these guards for a front court player.

The Raptors may explore a trade with Powell as well, but they will probably wait to see how the current front court does before making that kind of move.

They may look to make a Johnson/McCaw for overpaid mediocre 4/5 swap, but either way the guy won't be playing much unless there are injuries.

Powell will be interesting.

We don’t need to see anything more to know they’re in trouble if Boucher has to play any significant minutes at the 5. I think they were expecting more from Alex Len but he’s struggled to this point. Maybe he’ll figure it out but he looks like a less skilled and less athletic JV. I know OG can play 5 but he’s more valuable guarding wings and guards.

Put the scouting department to work - target players 8-15 on other rosters and find the best fit you can get for some combination of Thomas/Johnson/McCaw.

Right now they’re going to be overmatched by Philly, Milwaukee, Miami, and probably Brooklyn. And the Celtics added Tristan Thompson to go with Theiss and Robert Williams.

I don't think they are overly motivated to move Thomas. I think they view him as a valuable piece, especially for his money. He could arguably pass McCaw and Johnson this year so they could be motivated to move one or both for guys who are better fits.

Masai potentially about to convert a 2016 27th overall pick that the Raptors drafted and developed into 2 years of a top 5 player...best executive in the NBA considering the circumstances he has to deal with.

Maybe not, but they have 4 better players at SG on the bench. Flynn also looks like he could get minutes with Kyle/Fred. Norm, TD, Bembry and hopefully Watson all being able to play 2/3, he’s kind of the odd man out IMO.

Anything they can do to swap someone from 10-15 for a player to help the front court would be a positive. Still not sure why they didn’t keep Rondae.

I don't think they'll move Thomas for depth fiddling. This team needs shooting and he provides that.

I also don't think McCaw has any value, and Nick Nurse seems oddly enamored with him so....?

It doesn't solve issues at the 5, but since you just mentioned him in the post above this one the T'Wolves waived Hollis-Jefferson today. He wasn't exactly a huge move-the-needle guy for the Raptors last season and he's kinda crap offensively, but if they want an athletic, switchable big wing defender you could do worse than have him at the end of the bench.

My thoughts exactly. Injuries or even foul trouble could force guys like Bembry or Powell to PF and I don’t know how much of that you want to see.
