Coach of the year has no other options. This team is utter trash. We tanking.

So who are these big time scorers off the bench then?
And Nurse has no clue what he's doing? Good to see you know so much about coaching especially after 5 games this year. And let's discount the last two years where Nurse has won an NBA championship and a COY.

Yeah I dont think anyone should be surprised at the Raps struggling considering we lost Ibaka and Gasol and didnt fully replace them. Baynes for Gasol would have been a fine swap but losing Ibaka too was a bit too much. I think management figured with the shorten seaso, the fact the team's not even in Toronto and the number of potential free agents this summer that this season is the time to just evaluate the younger guys and assess for the future.
 
Wanted to tank this year and looks like we can if we trade Lowry.
Take it on the chin, move on from that leadership and keep building, drafting and developing.

Not sure what Lowry is worth but more just want to move him to get worse. Hopefully land a top 10 pick and draft a PF with some decent star power

Guys like Thomas, Flynn and Watson should be getting more minutes. At least these guys know how to provide some sort of offence. When 2 of your starters are completely useless on offence, you need to try to create offence, not put in Johnson who is more of a defensive guy and turnover man Davis. At least he pulled Davis quickly since he doesn’t seem interested, and not interested in listening to Lowry either. Some bad attitudes on this team. The long leash for OG was a bit annoying as well, or at the least tell him to stop taking 3’s and be more aggressive.
 
Lowry could be the piece that allows a team like the Sixers or Clippers to move into title-favourites/contention.

If you can extract at least a 1st and trust the Raptors scouting.

If they can walk away from this Toronto season with a top 3-5 pick and another late pick that would be ideal for their long-term future. This team lacks talent.

You're not going to ever win a championship going dumpster diving. Even Kawhi was only brought here by trading a top 10 developed pick that turned into an all-star.
 
I watched my first full game last night. Nurse seems just as frustrated as the fans with the lack of performance from the team. There doesn't seem to be a drive to the rim from this team. They're happy sitting on the outside shooting 3's as opposed to getting dirty.
Even when down by 9 in the 4th, and building on a little momentum, they took back to back uncontested 3 pointers that missed horribly. This was with 7 or 8 minutes left in the game? What's the rush? Why do you need to start putting up bombs with so much time left in the game?

I 'm just amazed that you have all these insights on the team after 5 games. Yes Thomas can shoot some threes but that's about it and plays marginal defense. Flynn will get his chance but still is an unproven rookie. And why you would mention a journeyman like Watson is beyond me.
As for the bad attitudes not sure how you can determine that. it's just your opinion. But I can imagine the whole team is not pleased by having to move to Tampa and play all their home games there and being only given a few weeks to get settled. Maybe allow the team a few weeks to settle in and then see how they are doing.
One last thing. The Raptors could be showcasing a few bench guys in order to facilitate an upcoming trade. Masai could be working on something.

A guy like Lowry is the perfect pickup for a team which is close to a championship. The Clippers would love a guy like Lowry.
If the season goes sideways I bet Masai goes to Lowry and talks to him about a move and where he might want to go.

I expected them to be a low seeded playoff team. I guess I overestimated the potential of this roster.

We're really hurting because of Pascal sucking and OG not developing a consistent offensive game. He's still an elite D guy so he gets a pass but Pascal is playing like he doesn't care - like someone who has gotten whiffs of him potentially being on the move and is now disgruntled.

We've actually lost against better and more deeper teams overall. NO have a deep roster. Boston is way better than us. Spurs are on par and it was a toss up game and the 76ers are also way better than us.

It'll be a tough year.
 
I rarely make excuses for athletes but I just can't rag on a core that brought us a championship and is playing away from home in a pandemic setting.

It sucks that they've been this poor but we lost a key veteran in Ibaka and a veteran leader in Gasol. We weren't going to be a better team from last year and with subpar progression from Pascal and Anunoby, it's not a surprise we are bad. Were not this bad but we will be a lottery team.

The best time is next year, if they drop the draft age; that draft will (in the event that the NBA lowers the age requirement) be generational.

Basketball is a top heavy sport.

Siakam, Lowry and FVV are not better than

Nets - Durant, Kyrie
Celtics - Tatum, Brown, Walker
Bucks - Giannis, Middleton, Holiday
Heat - Butler and Bam
Sixers - Embiid and Simmons

Then you factor in solid teams like the Hawks who have Young (better than any Raptor player), teams with better depth (Pacers), etc

This team was always going to struggle to make a top 4 seed. A more realistic outcome would've been 6-8 battling it out with the Hawks, Pacers and whoever for those 3 spots.

This team looks much worse than last year and losing both Ibaka and Gasol was a huge blow. It would serve them right to try their best to recoup assets for Lowry + Powell and tank this year. Suggs and Cunningham both look like they could be stars one day. You need to draft and develop stars when possible especially in a market like Toronto even though I don't hold the view that they can never bring in star UFA's like some others do.

If they don't wanna go that route, Harden is still available.
