They will probably win this one, but won't win many giving up 125+ like it's looking right now.

Man it's tough watching NBA defenses some times now a days. Scoring is so insanely high with players not looking to commit to one on one matchups, screens allow for shooters to get open so cleanly and very few players fight and hustle through them. Pacing is also a lot higher with teams getting more possessions to score. Raptors defense so far this year has been a major reason they've sucked.

The raptors will win tonight but terrible defensive effort.

Atleast Spicy P looks great the past two games.

I'm hoping to trade Baynes+2021 1st + top 7 protected + Thomas for a quality Big man if Masai thinks this team can win.

Targets would be a Drummond, Marvin Bagley III, Sabonis (unprotected 2021 1st for him and maybe Powell instead of Thomas).

Most likley we dont trade for a big piece as the team looks unlikely to be a contender but if we get hot and start getting wins would hope to see a move like that.

In a league where you can sign quality big men for cheap in UFA or acquire them for relatively little at the TDL, makes no sense to move their pick this year for a "quality" big man unless that player is KAT. The Raptors need to focus on acquiring a player that can be the best player on a title team or has that potential, whether that's trading for Harden or tanking for Suggs/Cunningham.

Sabonis, Siakam, OG, FVV gets you what? Maybe 4-6 seed in the East? The Raps still wouldn't be favoured over the Bucks, Nets, Celtics, and probably the Sixers. You could argue that they would be better than the Heat but giving up the chance at a top 3-5 pick for that?

Love the idea of getting both Baynes and Thomas off the team in the same trade but I really hope they don’t trade their first this year. Even outside the top 7, there’s some very intriguing talent well into the teens.

Bagley has been unimpressive so that’s a risky buy considering the likely price. Can’t see the Pacers wanting to trade Sabonis unless someome overpays, and Drummond for me is the most overrated centre in the game. Great rebounder but mediocre to poor at everything else. For the money he’ll command, he’s not worth it IMO.

To me, they’re looking at buy-low candidates that can be had for lesser pieces. Mentioned Harry Giles earlier and I’d add Mo Bamba to the list.

Young talent should be the focus this year.

Sad sad sad ... I have faith in Masai ... he will figure things out ... hard to lose our best player, our best shooter/defender and our 2 complimentary centres in a couple years ... everything changed ... we all thought Siakam would take over for Kawhi but maybe just maybe he is one of those guys who thrives as a 3rd option against weaker defenders ... it would not shock me to get Harden as primary scorer and siakam back to his old role ... what would siakam care as he got his $$$ already
Not everyone.

There 2 and 6.

Right now they should be looking to trade player and not give up any picks

while the C's on Toronto are not great... Serge is greatly overrated around these parts.

If true that was the dumbest mistake a team could do. It was clear Gasol was finished And Ibaka was the inside presence most teams lack. Him and Boucher would be the B version of the twin towers (Robinson & Duncan).

Yes, disappointing indeed.

Let's see what next year brings with all the excess money we now have.

By who? Serge is a very good modern day big that isn’t great at anything but good at everything. Players with his size and skill set are pretty valuable to any team and you’re seeing it on full display. He also added an element of toughness and competitiveness in the paint this team is sorely lacking right now.

If anything, I’d argue his contributions are pretty underrated. He was a huge loss.

Ibaka is the ideal C in the modern NBA as long as you have him split/share minutes with a more defensively-responsible C like Gasol for example. I would've prioritized bringing him back over Gasol solely because I believe you can replace Gasol's contribution with guys like McGee, Howard, etc more easily every offseason. The problem the Raps made is getting Baynes and Len to replace Gasol and Ibaka. They downgraded massively at a position that they need stability in.

I would hate to see us trade away our 1st, and definitely not a top protected one. I believe our best hope at getting a true 1st option type of player will be by drafting him. Masai getting a player of Leonard's capabilities doesn't happen often, especially where you don't have to gut your team to do it.
I don't see anyone who's available who would put us into serious title contention. Not interested in Harden in the least. He seems to be the type of player who's only interested in setting personal goals, while being paid handsomely to do it. From what I've read and heard about him, he is not a team player in terms of setting a good example (missing or showing up late for team meetings, staying longer in a city so he could party then fly in later). I feel like we're in that unenviable position where we aren't good enough that we only need to obtain one star player to put us into title contention, but not bad enough for us to be in the running for the #1 draft pick.
I realize I'm contradicting myself. I guess what I mean to say is, whatever Masai decides to do, I'm 100% behind him, even if it means trading away a lottery pick. He has earned that type of trust!

Only because the Raptors replaced him with guys that can't literally play.

Yeah, signing a centre that can jump a curb makes the losses seem even greater. I didn’t see much of Baynes in Phoenix but I thought he would be more impactful based on his time in Boston.

Father Time is still undefeated.

I was cautiously optimistic about Baynes as well, but he is horrendous. Len at least can play a little D, but shouldn’t be counted on to play full time. I was hoping they would sign Giles in the off-season, surprised they couldn’t offer more than he got from Portland, or maybe he just didn’t want to sign here. Good thing to come of this, Boucher has gotten the time he deserves and showed he can play

I agree. I thought Giles would be a great addition for his style, skill set, and age at just 22.

Really glad to see Boucher playing well, just worry about some of the matchups he’ll face at the 5. Seeing Robert Williams get 12 rebounds in the 4th quarter and completely body him in the paint was tough to watch.

lets be honest, the Time Lord is unguardable. He’s a little light to play against the big boys game in game out. Still amazed they have turned 2 undrafted (VanVleet and Boucher) into actual NBA players. It’s key when you consistently draft late in the 1st round

We lost Kawhi, Ibaka, Gasol (he was done anywho but can play defense while ibaka rests) and Green ... so today we have ZERO centres, ZERO main power forward guys, limited guys to hit winning shots and we lost a lot of defense too ... and we are relying on a 3rd wheel in Siakam to play well over his head every night ... some guys just can't handle that responsibility and Siakam appears to be one of those guys who excels in a secondary scoring role ... this is our reality and we need Masai to fix it ... he knows it already .. lets see what he does now

Don’t forget your boy Terrence Davis! Undrafted to all-rookie team is pretty impressive.

As much as it sucks losing, it’ll be great to pick inside the top 20 for a change.
